If you had a St. John rental house, what would you name it?
I am partial to houses that are named after songs and that do not have the word "Villa" in the name.

Ruth,
I didn't even need to ponder this question. I would name our house, "Sweet Melissa" in remembrance of our precious daughter. Sweet Melissa is a great song recorded by the Allman Brothers Band....mia

Probably the worst name ever ... and trust me I've DREAMED of this ... but I'd go with St John Crush (Crush is my all time favorite song by the Dave Matthews Band).

I am pretty sure its not about stj :) but it sums up how I feel on island.

Is "Inagaddadavida" taken?

Alternatively, I'll rip-off Toots and the Maytalls and go with "Pressure Drop."

I would build 2 houses. One I would name Anastasia and the other Beaverhousen

Chip says:
High up on a hill- Baywatch

On the water - Fanilow
I think we watch too much TV

No really, I think I would name it Sunshine Daydream.

If it were to be your house, in keeping with the "theme," you'd have to consider "Spice of Life" ...
but then you could borrow Jimmy Buffet's [Island Fever (if that's legal since it most likely is copywrited) - mentions spices and flavors! (I experimented a bit - maybe it worked?)

Island Fever
I think I've got a touch of island fever
I do believe I feel a bit sauteed
This morning I was just some nonbeliever
Tonight I feel I've joing a wild crusade

I never thought of life as being breezy
I never thought of time as time to play
I never thought that I could take it easy

But all those feelings changed for me today

Layers and layers of spices and flavors
Are finding their way to my brain
Layers and layers of costumes and players
That make my whole life look insane

Palm trees and views I can't believe
Why would I ever want to leave?
I think I'll take my shoes off and go walking
Down beside the Caribbean Sea.
I like the funny sounds of parrots squawking
I think I hear a hammock calling me.

Layers and layers of spices and flavors
Could this be some kind of charade?
Layers and layers of costumes and players
I think I will join the parade

Layers and layers of spices and flavors
Could this be some kind of charade?
Layers and layers of costumes and players

I think I will join the parade
I think I've got a touch of island fever...

Hahaha  ! JJShaw!!

I think I would call mine "Tree Frog". I would like to have a eco-lodge deal in the woods, possibly high off the ground to experience the wildlife.
Not everyones cup of tea I know, but I think it would be cool. :)

How 'bout "NANANANABOOBOO"

That's what the kids used to say when they had something that they thought everyone else wanted.

First I thought of calling it "Pinch Me" because if it actually happened I would be Shocked!

I like the Beatles so "Octopusses Garden" might be appropriate. (I am not sure if I spelled that right).

I'll have to think about more names...

Maybe "Come Away With Me" or "Unchained Melody" or perhaps "Cool Change"

Too many choices!

I think the house would help to choose the name. I always named our puppies, but once their personalities came out, we would call them something different. I imagine it would be the same with an island home.

I would go with Hidden Treasures.

I picked it from one of my favorite Jimmy Buffett songs:

By: Jimmy Buffett
1974
Mother, mother ocean, i have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since i was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all

Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream

Yes i am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

I've done a bit of smugglin', i've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy miami, but i pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last

And i have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and i rallied and i sprung a few leaks
But i got stop wishin', got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends

(instrumental)

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile
Though i ran 'em away, they'd come back one day
Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while

Mother, mother ocean, after all the years i've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around
I feel like i've drowned, gonna head uptown

XOXO

Bug,
It's probably a good thing if I never get a St. John rental house, because when I read your post I was kind of partial to the words "Over Forty Victim of Fate."
No one would ever want to rent my house with the names I pick out. I'd laugh my head off all the way to bankruptcy.
