Help,
I, (husband does not have patience) am going crazy weeding thru all the villas in St John looking for our May 2008 villa. This year we stayed in Le Virage for the second time, which meant we did not have to do the villa seach for 3 months!.
Now I really would like to try Coral Bay, will be 2 of us, possibly 4. Villa Carolina looks very nice as well as Palladios view (not many pictures and no a/c which concerns me) And I must admit Reef Madness is up there on our list. I am looking for fantastic views of Coral Bay as well as a spacious villa. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For May, I would go with A/C. We needed it to deal with Mosquitoes this May. I like being up on Ajax Peak; it gives you quicker access to the North Shore.

Question: who manages Villa Carolina?

Windspree has a nice map page for Coral Bay area: http://windspree.com/stjmap.html

Cheers, RickG

We have stayed at Mystic Ridge (group of 8) the past 2 years and loved it. It's located just past Chateau Bordeaux on Centerline Rd - easy access to Northshore beaches and to either Cruz or Coral Bay. The views over Coral Bay and out to the BVIs in the distance are great. One bedroom does have twin beds, but they can be made into a king. We have enjoyed working with Kathy McLaughlin, who oversees the property.

Looks like Catered to is manager for Villa Carolina.

Yea, we needed the a/c in May, but there are some great looking laid back villas in Coral bay that unfortunately don't have air. I was trying to convince myself that we wouldn't need it. Thanks Rick for bringing me back to reality.

We stayed at Palladios View four years ago and loved it. As far as views go - unbelievable. We went in late April and didn't mind not having a/c but that's us. The house had tons of ceiling fans and the sun was behind the hill/mountain in the afternoon so it didn't beat in the house all day. The road getting there was pretty exciting - don't know if that is improved or not. The appliances were a little tired when we were there - I would think by now they have been replaced. Another suggestion in Coral Bay is One Particulour Harbour - views even more spectaculor and a/c in the bedrooms. We loved, loved, loved OPH.

I'd have to agree with INfamily about Kathy McLaughlin. She's a really really great agent. We just got back from 3 weeks at Chateau Margot and LOVED this location and the house. Ten minutes from Maho, and Coral Bay and 15 minutes from town.

Mystic Ridge is a minute away from Chateau Margot - you can see one villa from another across the valley.
Mystic isn't fully a/c, but 3 bedrooms are. The great room is huge, with many fans, and we were never uncomfortable in late May, early June. Kathy did arrange for us to tour Chateau Margot and it's pretty spectacular. You almost feel suspended in air out on the pool deck, the way it's cantilevered for the mountainside.

We stayed at Mystic Ridge too several years ago (before AC in bedrooms). We had too many spiders in the house to ever go back.

Susan and Herb,

We've stayed at Villa Carolina recently. It's a Great Villa. It's @ 30 minutes to Cruz Bay and 10 minutes to Coral Bay. Nice pool and deck area with two equal masters on either side of the pool. The masters have A/C, big bathrooms, vaulted ceilings with fans, and nice arched doorways leading to the pool area. Nice third bedroom on the lower level, 8 foot ceilings down there, but a nice little porch and seperate bathroom. The great room and kitchen are set up very nice seperating the two masters. The views are from Tortola to Bordeaux Mtn.

Luminaria is right behind this villa, but you cannot see each other. Take care

We checked out Luminaria two weeks ago for our SO's daughter. It HAS beautiful views of both the BVIs AND Coral Bay. I think the view was prettier than our view from Hakuna Matata over Cinnamon Bay.

SO says WE are staying there next time :) The only problem I saw with it is that there was no view from the pool. I can imagine that the pool water is probably cold too cuz the villa is so high up and our pool on Gifft Hill was cold.

Good luck with your choice, can't wait to hear what you decide.

Villa Carolina

We stayed at Villa Carolina last December and will be staying there again this December. It is set up nicely w/two equal master bdrms on either side of the living/kitchen/dining area. There is a third bedroom downstairs w/private bath. Lots of comfortable furniture outside/poolside. Pool is very nice. Great view. Kitchen is well equipped. Paved road all the way to the villa. We rented through CateredTo.

Can you tell me if the water view is in the "distance" or fairly close up. I really like up close H20 views as we live in the mountains of northern NJ and miss the water.
