First full day, 6/21, Trunk, Lameshur

Our first full day we awoke to the beautiful view out our full sides of glass windows. Wow! I was up early, I mean early like 5:45 as I could sense the sunrise. I sat out by myself on the deck with a cup of coffee. Hubby got up next then the kids and we ate out on the gorgeous deck enjoying the view and light caressing breeze. We were out the door at 7:45! So excited!
We headed to Trunk bay first as believe it or not we hadn't been there in our previous two trips. The beach was nothing short of gorgeous. We donned our snorkel gear and had a leisurely snorkel around the cay. The cay is quite large with pretty decent coral. The highlight was a 4 foot barracuda. By the time we got out of the water, the kids played around a little, but I was ready to move on as the beach was getting crowded for my taste. In retrospect it might have been nice to stay as we were overly ambitious with a first day. We head to maho and play about in the water. Several kids are screaming and having fun, but Trunk might have been more peaceful to stay at.
Island Blues for lunch- decent food, not used to the $10-$13 lunches yet, but nice location on the water.
After lunch we head to little Lameshur. It's quite an interesting drive past Salt Pond. I had heard it was good snorkeling, but visibility wasn't great and Trunk actually was better for us. By now at 3pm we have had a little too much sun, gotta pace ourselves better! We head back by Centerline road and take a wrong turn up what I think is Bordeaux Mountain Road. By the time we turn around and get back home its 4 pm and everyone is exhausted. We head to the pool for a cooling dip and enjoy the floating immensely with a couple homemade frozen fufu drinks. My son enjoys the freedom of being legal in the VI.
Dinner is Rhumblines as I had heard a lot about this place. It is kind of a "hip" joint with somewhat loud music. They seat as at the very front by the entrance and we watch several young twentysomethings come in, loud and calling some attention to themselves. Our goat cheese salads were absolutely scrumptious!!! But for dinner my oldest, afraid of being too expensive, had ordered off the appetizer menu instead of the main menu so he was disappointed in his portion. He ordered more shrimp but the overall feel was of unhappiness. We had a discussion of what you can expect for your money in the Caribbean versus home and it went well. Then, we go home and roll into bed, somewhat exhausted but happy from the day.
