Trip Report Day 4 The Limnos!

Since we had a couple of "newbies" with us, we had to take them to Virgin Gorda and The Baths and the Caves at Norman Island. That equates to.......The Limnos. Now the Limnos has gone through quite a few changes since the first time we took them, and I would say not all of them are for the good. They had new boats, newer hard bodies, and they were a lot more of a party boat. Now they have an aging boat, Limnos V, hard bodies that are now in our generation - semi hard bodies, and they really do try to be a party boat, but with everyone drinking orange and prune juice....well, it just lacks something.

A lot of sight seeing was done.

Of course the thing about the Limnos is the getting there, not especially the "being" there. It is, after all, a large party boat with an open bar. Lunch is served on board after the Baths.........the Baths.....hmmm, let's see. With the Limnos trip, you go to Spanish Town and take a taxi over to the Baths.

Then walk down a path to the bay.

Of course the views are spectacular! And interesting shapes.

You have to take the obligatory "In The Baths" shot...

And then....I do not recommend this for the "senior" folks, like me.......but I jumped off one of the boulders......like a fool. I am not sure why I got in the Willie T position at the end...

And then you have to have the "ahhhhhhhh" factor.

Then, the hike back up the trail to the awaiting taxi. The good thing is The Bar At The Top Of The Baths......great views and drinks at the bar!!

After the Baths, we went to the caves at Norman Island. Good snorkeling, but kind of crowded....

And then the trip home (St. John).....more drinking and merriment on board.

That was a busy day!! Back to the villa for some more views and sunsets and drinking and, this one's for you Pia, Grilled Tuscan Style Tuna on the Barbie!! I will get you the recipe.

Up next......yet another journey to the far side.......

Hello, the guy in the picture is wearing a wide brimmed hat. I want to get one of those for my trip in August, Where did he get his?

I'm not sure what brand of hat he is wearing, but some of the finest wide-brimmed hats are made by Tilley. www.tilley.com

I have the TM-10 Mesh hat and the TM-4 solid hat, and I love them both. For a long time I only had the TM-4, but I thought that might be too heavy for St. John, so I bought the mesh hat just prior to my recent trip. It was perfect.

If you buy direct from Tilley, prepare to spend $75 or so. You can search eBay, though, and find dealers that sell for less than that. Even if you don't find exactly the hat you are looking for on eBay, many of the dealers have other hats available. You should be able to find one for $50 - $60 if that is the hat you want.

I have no stake in Tilley, and I am not a dealer. I just love the hats.

Joe, you are quite right. It is a Tilley, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Very clever how they do the draw string so the wind cannot blow it off your head!
