I can't believe all the reports of shark sightings. Some of these reports note tiger sharks as well, which I always thought were really dangerous. And some seem like "real" 5-7 foot guys not just babies. In five years I've never seen a shark in SJ, what's going on?? Is there need for concern......I have never had any fear in the water and I like to spend all day, every day snorkeling (ie..family nickname). I HAVE NOT been practicing my WALKING ON WATER SKILLS! will I need them - YIKES!

Obviously I'm no expert, but I bet there aren't any more sharks out there than there ever were. It's just that a lot of people have seen babies that are still in close to shore this spring and it's been a hot topic on the forum recently. I seriously wouldn't worry about it. Have you ever heard of anyone being attacked by sharks on St. John? I haven't.

I was wondering the same thing though I must admit I'd probably scream like a little girl if either a barracuda or a shark slithered up next to me.

I will remain happily in denial. You wont get any shark pics in my trip report...unless they are in the pool and serving me painkillers.

I was more afraid of the stingray than the sharks.
