If I were dropped on island with nothing else but a swimsuit, sunscreen, and a hat I could survive!
Its good to have a list though as I have been known to forget the obvious (bathing suit for my honeymoon).

Rasta, Im an overpacker as well. I know Im going to regret it, but I want a variety of stuff to suit my mood while on vacation. I would say a must have is plenty of money, then you can pack light and not worry bout a thing!

If you're prone to getting bug bites, definitely take bug spray. The critters unfortunately love to bite me, and I use a ton of bug spray when we're in STJ...we just got back from a 10 day trip and I went through 5 cans of it...it costs around $10 per can on island, so I bring it with to save money.
Other than that my essentials are sun block, sunglasses, a visor or hat, books/magazines for reading on the beach, and a swimming suit.

For us, a softsided cooler.
We haven't take food in several trips - we use it on-island everyday for trips to the beach. Sometimes, we use it as checked luggage on the way home if we purchased more than will fit into our regular bag.
Every villa we rented had at least a hard cooler but we just like our soft one better. It is relatively lightweight and much easier to carry.

SPF Lip Stuff
Oh and my DD loves to take the cheapie Walmart floats and blow them 1/2 way up to comatose herself in the waters.

Oh, I forgot...we always take snorkeling equipment.
You can rent it on island, but we greatly prefer having our own.

Lots of money, good sence of humor, and a return airline ticket.

My short list is: bottle opener, sunglasses, wallet, passport.
My long list is over on my newbies' guide page. I printed my own list out the night before our last trip to pack!

Remember, you really only need one set of underwear - wear it on the way down, wash it, wear it on the way back. So sayeth the Cammando.

Okay speaking of commando my friend was telling me about a bar that if you take off your underwear in front of everyone they hang it from the ceiling and your drinks are on the house. Is this true and what bar is this?

Don't do it! Bomba Shack on Tortola. Seriously, good lingerie costs more than free drinks!

Just the ones from Leesburg! If you run into Bill, the brewer at Vintage 50 in Leesburg, he spent his honeymoon on STJ and STT about 4 years ago. Good brewer too...
