Hello, since the BVI are closed to visitors. What else is there to do when chartering a boat for the day?

A lot. You can visit the great offshore snorkeling spots like Eagle Shoal and Christmas Cove and the Cays between St. Thomas and St. John. During season you can visit Pizza Pi and Lime Out. Bikinis at Honeymoon Beach is open. You can head down to Water Island and visit Honeymoon Beach and Dinghy's Beach Bar. A day on the boat is what you make it, but without having the time list and high costs of checking into the BVI.

Cheers, RickG

This past December, we decided to skip the BVIs for the reason's Rick already mentioned - higher customs costs than we experienced in prior years, coupled with the time element. We spent a fabulous day in USVI waters with Captain Jamison on Kekoa doing the " St John Full Day Tour". Specific stops/itinerary are always conditions permitting. Our first stop was Lovango Cay which was a nice snorkel (highlight was a spotted moray eel), 2nd stop was Christmas Cove, which was the best! We saw a pair of spotted eagle rays, and then 2 others separately, so a total of 4!!! (along with a lobster, and 2 beautiful true tulip shells). Our last stop was Scott Beach - nice snorkel but sad to still see Caneel and the buildings on Scott Beach as Irma had left them 3 years ago). Highlight as we were leaving were a pair of dolphins swimming! We would do this excursion again and hope for different stops (other one's that we can't snorkel from shore on our own). Good luck!

Chill, enjoy the views from afar, hit off shore snorkeling spots...check out cays/small islands...

I've done three charters around St John. none with any intentions of visiting the BVIs, plenty of beauty in the USVIs! :D

We booked with Capt' Rick in 2018 on Cimarron, we really liked him and his boat...good times. --GRACE IS A 41.1’ CENTER COCKPIT BRISTOL HIGH PERFORMANCE CRUISER WITH DISTINCTIVE CLASSICAL STYLING BUILT BY SOME OF NEW ENGLAND’S FINEST CRAFTSMEN. We're hoping to sail with him again in 2021!
