Don't feel TOO SORRY for me because we had a great week!!

Once I get my head together and my pics uploaded I'll do a trip report. I'm afraid our week will seem a bit boring after all the crazy & fun groups that were on Island before us in May.

To answer some questions:

The skeeters were very manageable, some Deep Woods Off and a couple of the bug zappers, no problem! Only my sister and niece came home with a lot of bites. There wasn't a good breeze most of the week, but when there was.................no bugs!

The temperature was hot and it seemed more humid. We had a fair amount of rain and some cloud cover, so the snorkeling wasn't the best. But it was still "perfect" to me.

The Ferry system is SCREWED UP, big time. Be very careful if you are taking the CA Ferry, it's a small one. The luggage is stored up front on the bow and gets wet, the inside seating area looks cramped. We ended up doing Red Hook coming home. There was no 4pm CA last Saturday, so we went to Red Hook. They didn't have enough Captains (or so they said) so there was no 5pm, we had to wait for the 6pm. The Ferry was OVERFLOWING.......standing room only. PLAN ACCORDINGLY!!!

The Island is beautiful as usual, the villa was great, Mike took his own stitches out.

It's cool and rainy here in VA today, but that's okay. Yesterday was a long travel day.....we're planning to kick back!

Love ya guys!

Jan (akaCharlie)

Thank you for mentioning the ferry issues. We will be arriving next Saturday and had planned on taking the CA ferry. Wet luggage wouldn't be a good way to start the trip. Think we'll just catch the cab to Red Hook.
Looking forward to seeing photos and hearing more about your trip.

Welcome home. It really did seem to go too fast! We took the little CA ferry over to STJ, and you're right, it was really cramped inside with not much view out, but when we went back on the 3:00, it was the big one. Can't wait to read your report...I haven't even finished MINE yet!

And hello back to the real world

Back in 95, my bag got wet coming home from STJ. The lining dye (navy blue) transferred onto my clothing, permanently staining at least 3/4.

On another trip, some type of oil (scary) soaked into my hubs bags, ruining some shirts. (this was not ferry related, happened at the airport or on the plane)

I now pack inside of trash bags, sort of encasing the clothes inside my suitcase.

Welcome back Jan & Mike. I finally have some time for some badly needed forum catch-up, so bring on the reports and pictures – can’t wait.

We took the CA ferry on Sat, May 26 at 4:00 and returned the next Sat back to CA with no problems. It is a smaller boat, but you get there about 15 minutes faster!
