I believe that 10 years ago or so, the developers of Virgin Grand Estates were on good terms with the Westin folks and there was a road from South Shore Road near the Westin that connected to Virgin Grande Estates, on the lower end.

Then there was some kind of dispute and the Westin folks made the road no longer passable (with a gate, perhaps?).

I'm wondering if this is still the case, or if the road is open these days?

Unfortunately, you still have to drive up Giift Hill Road to get to VGE. A large earth mound blocks the VGE road just uphill from the Westin Villas.

However, you can walk it. Good practice if you ever consider doing 8TM!

Ok, thanks for the info. It sure would be convenient if that wasn't the case. Darn.

I don't foresee 8 Tuff Miles in my future

Teresa, we rented Vista Caribe the last two years and even though the villa was great it was pain in the butt to drive to town - FOR US. It is probably no big deal for most people but just a big inconvenience for our group. We are now going back to Chocolate Hole, Casa Mare, in the future. This year we are staying in Peter Bay!

We've stayed off of Gifft Hill a few times before. It's manageable, but it sure would be nice if we could enter VGE from South Shore Road!
