Hi all-
Recommendations on private taxi from airport to ferry? Also, can you give me an estimate on cost for 4 adults and 4 kids to do this vs. the usual taxi?

It will likely be cheaper to have a private taxi - regular taxi fare will be P/P and between $96 -120 plus $4 a bag - private taxi costs are usually all inclusive.

Rachel is worth every penny. Especially if you are traveling with children and/or a group.

I also agree that a private taxi is better for a group, cheaper and more fun/relaxing.

I'll add that it is worthwhile to consider a private water taxi as well. Depending on your group's baggage (as with the private van, the rate is all-inclusive), it can be a couple bucks more a person but a more relaxing way to go as you go directly from the van to the boat to the NPS dock on STJ. Its just cuts down on a lot of "movement" and I have found that the less "herding of cats", the better when travelling with kids and/or a group.

You don't have to book a private taxi ahead of time. We were scheduled to arrive last Thursday at 5:15 so I didn't want to book ahead if we weren't going to make the 6:00 ferry anyway. We did arrive on time, no checked bags, so we ran to the dispatcher and asked for a private taxi for 5 people. $90 for 4 then $15 each for more. Charles was our driver and said he would do the best he could to make it and he did! We gave him a nice tip and were on the 6:00 ferry with a few minutes to spare.
