The day is finally here! Woo hoo! Super excited for our clan of 8 to be heading to STJ. I'm a bit worried about the crowds and especially next Wed and Thurs with the cruise ships in. Wednesday has 5 ships with like 18,000 passengers. How many % tend to come over? Will we be safe at Cinammon or need to go further to Maho or Francis? Tues we will be in the BVIs so no concerns.

Having lived on St Thomas and St John I can tell you the majority of the cruiser will not come to St John. I always went to Solomen Beach anyway, but you should be fine, stay away from Trunk for sure. Enjoy!

MCM: Congratulations on getting here! Trunk Bay beach is the only one with organized swimming tours for cruise ship passengers, so anywhere else would be fine. There are no cruise ships in port today (Sunday), so this would be the best day to hit Trunk. There will be six cruise ships in port on Tuesday, when visiting Trunk would be a bad idea; a great day for the BVI. There were a lot of people on island for the two holiday weeks, which meant that you had to get underway early in order to find parking at your beach of choice, but it is likely to be a bit quieter for this coming week.
All the best,
Kevin

We always go to Hawksnest on our first day as it is my husband's favorite beach. We got a bit of a later start stopping and Sam and Jack's and then Low Key for snorkel gear. It was probably 10:45 am and we got to Hawknest and the lot was full but thankfully got a couple parking spots just beyond the parking lot. 3 newbies in tow. Happy husband. While it was the busiest I've ever seen it (we've always traveled in low season), it still had its awesomeness and the newbies totally "got it" We could still get those awesome pics of the beautiful sea with not a single person in the background (so it looks like you had the beach to your self). Had an awesome memory maker today. My 5 yr old tried snorkeling for the first time (she was awesome!) and snorkeling holding hands with my 5 and 8 year old girls was so amazing. "Let's keep going" they kept saying! We were going to head to Trunk in the afternoon but the skies got black and it started to pour so packed up and hit the Beach Bar instead and the rain dried and we had a good ole time. Kids climbed the tree and a few beverages and snacks for the adults. Super day! I think tomorrow we'll try Trunk early and then and Cinnamon.
