should we bring cloth or disposable diapers?

We're traveling next month with our 7 month old to STJ. We cloth diaper at home but I know water conservation is an issue on island. Would it be better to bring disposables for our week vacation? We'll be staying at the Westin. TIA!

If your room at the Westin has a washer and a dryer, I would say stick with the cloth diapers. They have their own reverse osmosis plant. So water conservation is a little less important than keeping things out of the landfill. Just be sure you have a washer and dryer in your room first.

There are also a couple laundry mats that you will pass on your way to the Westin. Both offer drop off service

If you prefer to do your own laundry rather than drop off and you have a vehicle, I recommend the place on Centerline road in the pink building across from Paradise Lumber.

It has newer machines, is cleaner, more spacious and usually has a nice breeze blowing through.

Hmm...will you be bringing enough cloth diapers to do large loads of them? Because if you're thinking of doing lots of small loads, I would bring disposables instead because of the water shortage on STJ.

If you do laundry in a villa, you are most likely on a cistern. We are very short on rain water to fill the cisterns. When the cisterns go empty, the owner needs to buy desalinated water to fill them. Very expensive.

If you do laundry at a laundry mat in town, you are on a public water system that is desalinated sea water. No shortage.
