I'll be arriving Aug. 1 and was all set to go with a good friend. She backed out yesterday. I'm very disappointed, to say the least. I don't know if I should even go. Is it possible to have fun on a solo trip? Eating out, sitting on the beach, hanging out at a bar.....it makes me feel like a looser who can't find a friend. Any advise? Thanks!

Wow that is late notice for backing out. I would be disappointed too.

I know many people who have had a great time solo! I would still go. People are so friendly while relaxing on vacation you will end up making new friends while you are there.

If you do end up going, pm me if you want to get together. I will be there with my crew at that time. I guess I put August 1 as my arrival date on the forum calendar, but I am actually arriving July 29th and we are there through the 15th of August. Said crew does include two teenagers, you have been warned

I went solo in December. Great trip. Friends are easily made. Plus some nice peace and quiet lounging under a sea grape tree. Enjoy!

That's a bummer about your friend backing out. There are four of us that will be there Aug 8 - 10 but by that time you'll probably have made some great friends. PM me if you want contact info.

My wife and I - along with a newbie couple - will be on STJ from 8/2 - 8/9.

I would go for the solo trip! Still lots to do...

At night, look for a party of four at The Beach Bar or Drink. We'll be there most nights. Would love to introduce ourselves and buy you a drink!

Just go! You will have a great time, I have been solo myself (it was planned) and absolutely loved it. You are not on anyone's watch and believe me, you won't be bored. It is an awesome way to meet people.

As much as I know it will never happen for me, I think a solo trip would be a wonderful adventure! Just don't go to Saltpond alone, with that strange young man who tends to bother people...
Having been there with a lot of different newbies over the years, trust me when I tell you that you will most certainly not miss even the most minor drama relating to what to do and where to go. You'll get to do whatever you want to, and THAT sounds like a wonderful vacation! The island is your playground!
