Sunday
We were up early and had coffee on the deck, as usual, then we went to Mosquito Bites to pick up sandwiches and take them to the beach at Cinnamon Bay. I love this beach, especially the views of the BVI's. There were very few people there early. We enjoyed a couple of hours here until the winds started picking up.

We headed back to Coral Bay for a little shopping at Big Fish, then out to Lameshur. It was very hot at Lameshur. The sand was too hot to walk on. We did a little snorkeling here, then went back to the villa to rest.
Image
We had a good dinner at Island Blues. I had the turkey reuben (with slaw instead of saurkraut) and Guy had the beef brisket special (great!)

Monday - Our day with Flyaway Charters
We woke up to a beautiful sunrise over Coral Bay!Image
We met Captain Truman with Flyaway Charters, and our Captain for the day, Captain Stan, in Coral Harbour at 8:30. After a little paperwork, we were on our way. Flyaway's boats are very nice, and their captains are great people ... highly recommended!!! We snorkeled a little at Newfound Bay, which our boat was named after, then over to Jost Van Dyke.

Image
As Captain Stan was getting us through customs, we had our first rum drinks of the day at Corsairs. Image
We chatted with Vinny at the bar for a while, then walked down to Foxy's. We enjoyed a couple of painkillers at Foxy's and were fortunate to have him sing a little for us. He is a hoot! He had fun with us being from Kentucky.

We got back in the boat and went around to the bubbly pool, but the water was too calm for it. We had a fabulous lunch at Foxy's Taboo. Captain Stan and I both had the steak kabobs and Guy had a burger. It was all very good.

Image
After lunch we went out to Sandy Cay (perfect little island) for a little snorkeling.
Image
When we got back to the boat, Stan had a bottle of Cruzan dark for us and was mixing up drinks.
Image
We enjoyed the rum as we went back around the island to White Bay ... what a wonderful stretch of beach! We had a few painkillers at Ivan's which runs on the honor system. Guy loved being bartender!
Image
Image
Ivan's was a ton of fun! We were very happy!
Image
We walked over to the Soggy Dollar for some more relaxation (and more painkillers).

I would love to spend more time on JVD, but it was time to wade back to our boat and get back to STJ for customs. Image
We didn't make it back until 5:30 ... too late, but Flyaway Charters managed to work it out. We had dinner at Skinny's with Stan and his wife, Kathy, then crashed after a long, wonderful day.

Tuesday (our last full day  )
We were up early again with the roosters and a brief rain at sunrise. The sky quickly cleared as we enjoyed our coffee and talked about the day before. Wow, what fun!
We picked up sandwiches from Mosquito Bites and headed out to Jumbie. It is a nice little sandy beach with a couple of shady spots for picnics.
Image
Image
No one was at Jumbie when we arrived, then a few people arrived by dinghy. We spent a few hours here, then went back to Maho for a while. We decided to go to Lilly's to get something to mix with all of our leftover rum. We stopped by the smoothie stand again, one last time (this trip) on our way back to Coral Bay. We stopped at Aqua Bistro for a drink after Lilly's. They have a special drink there that is very good ... "Drink right, stay left". We went back to the villa for a while before dinner at Shipwreck, which was once again, very good. I had the surf and turf special (filet and scallops) and Guy had the fish n chips. It was great!

Wednesday
We have to go home ... the week flew by! Next time, we are definitely staying longer!
We packed up and turned in our car. Bill with bookitvi was nice enough to store our luggage at his office while we did a little shopping. We met Ruth and Ron at St. John Spice, stocked up on a few favorites recommended by forum members, and had it shipped home. I am anxious to try it all and some of your recipes!
Next we went to Caravan Gallery for a hook bracelet and some charms, then we had a quick lunch at Deli Grotto before catching the CA ferry back to STT.

We had the best week and I am ready to start planning our next trip to St. John! Thank you all for the advice and suggestions to help us plan it. It was wonderful, just too short!! We plan to take the kids next time so that we can stay longer.

Great trip report. Love the huge smiles and beautiful sun kissed faces. One week is just not enough. I told my husband the first trip we made to STJ (~ 15 years ago now) which was one week that I'd NEVER go again for only one week and we haven't either. Nine more days to go and we're there for 23 days.

So glad you had such a great time on your first trip to STJ. Enjoyed seeing your photos too. Mosquito Bites must be a new deli in Coral Bay?
Thanks for taking the time to write the reports and post the photos.

Thanks everyone! Our planning definitely paid off, but it was thanks to you all and all of your help!

Diana,
Mosquito Bites is a deli in Coral Bay. It is in the complex where Lilly's and Aqua Bistro are.

Diana2,
Wow, 23 days! That is awesome! I just showed my husband, now I just need to convince him!

Great Report and Great Photos!

Is it just me or is it the 2 large glasses of wine that I just drank, but do KYGirl and KellyAnn look like long lost sisters? Nobody else has mentioned it so it must be the wine

Hi Betty, I also just finished my second tall glass of wine. More like a mason jar. I also think they look like they could be sisters.

Great report! I could feel it right along with you. (almost) :D

It looks like you had perfect weather. Yes, you do look like you could be KellyAnn's sister. I think it is the smile and the overall happy look. :D
