how long in advance should I rent a car for August?
do you think I should reserve it now?
I was thinking about an open Vitara, but suggestions are welcome

A Vitara is a good choice. It's not too soon. Do it now and cross it off your list.

do it now! I am going in july and tried to rent a car two weeks ago. very difficult finding one, although we only need one for four days. five is usually the minimum, but most places were already out of them. good luck!!

I booked mine when I booked everything else...a few months ago.....Picking it up at the St Thomas Airport and driving it the car barge...got us a soft top Jeep.
