Pillsbury Sound was filled yesterday with the colorful spinnakers of dozens of sailboats, which were competing in the St. Thomas International Regatta. Not the best shot below, and all of my closer zoom-in's proved useless; I had last used the Nikon for astronomical photography, and only learned after the boats had left that the camera's autofocus had been turned off.

We were out in dinghies on Wednesday, April 1. While moored at Waterlemon we saw many spinnakers go by and wondered if there was an event taking place. It looks like we missed the regatta by a day, so maybe there were just a large number of sailors still in the area enjoying the wind. It was fun to watch and I'm sure seeing the regatta would have been great.

STIR used to be called the Rolex. The following weekend was the BVI Spring Regatta. We were out sailing that week, but we stayed out of the way of the racers. The BVIs looked so busy that we stayed around St. John and St. Thomas. We were headed from Leinster Bay to Cruz Bay on de boat on Thursday and we saw a lot of boats headed east for the BVI regatta, some towing more than one small racer.
Cheers, RickG
