Hola, fellow sun worshippers.
Just wondering if anyone has any information about Water Island. Anything that is a must see? Any local eateries that shouldn't be missed? Just wondering if it is worth a day trip. I know that it's very small, just curious. Might want to try a vacation there sometime.
Thanks and
Smiles-
MJ

Water Island is easily accessed from Crown Bay marina via their ferry - the most popular day spot is Honeymoon Beach - with 2 eateries Heidi's and Dinghy's Beach Bar - there is also a golf cart rental - Kelly's - which is a good way to explore the island especially if you are planning to look for a place to stay on vacation.
It has gotten a lot busier at the beach since the cruise ship passengers from the nearby terminal discovered it but on a non ship day it is truly a peaceful and pleasurable beach to do a day trip to.
For an extended visit it is a quiet respite from STT - food is easily stocked from the Pueblo in Subbase and there is a ferry available if you go to STT for dinner some nights.
There has been a proposed hotel complex but it is years away if it is ever really approved and financed so currently a small well run campground and some houses are your only options for rentals.
Well worth a day trip on a non- ship day!

Hey Jimmy :)

Never have been there, but Captain Jay and his wife Deb go there all the time. They live on STT. They love it. If you need info, let me know.

We like Water Island and we're planning on spending the night there in 19 days. with any luck we'll get Capt. Jay & Deb to join us. If you visit via boat you can hit Abi Beach Bar on the south shore of St. Thomas on the way. It's a bit of a journey if you're on STJ, Crown Bay is near the airport.

There are two beach bars with food on Honeymoon Beach. Its a good spot, sort of like a St. John beach with more amenities. Weekends are busiest.
