Today is the third day that both new ferries have been docked idle in Cruz Bay. It would be nice to see them put back into service. Has anyone heard why they aren't being operated?
All the best,
Kevin

I was wondering about this too, had to check the date/time on the Spice Cam to make sure it wasn't stuck!

Love to start my day with a view of the ferry dock on St. John. However, for nearly a week, I have seen the two new ferries still docked there, side-by-side, never moving. I am puzzled. This seems to me like a very huge misuse of $7.6M of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Where can I find out any information about why these ferries are idle?

We are staying at Battery Hill right now and the new ferries haven't moved all week. We were wondering why they aren't in service either. However we came in last Saturday during the "tropical storm" and when the ferries started running again that night we did take one of the new ones over from Red Hook. Was a really nice ride. But they have been idle since!

Thanks for the reply, Larlar. I talked to friends on STJ yesterday who told me that the new ferries were put into temporary use just prior to Carnival to handle the extra passengers and then again during TS Bertha's recent visit. They did not know why the ferries are still docked at CB but suggested that they had not yet been "officially" released for regular service. Nevertheless, it's nice to see them on the webcam------like grand sentries guarding the bay!

If they came with beach chairs, cooler and a blender someone may want to rent them for the week!

Looks like there is some area for DANCING on top - I say string some colorful Christmas Lights, crank up the music, get some rum punch and start the party!
