Day 4:
This was the day for the Reef Bay Hike. We had really great bug spray because the mosquitoes were bad but didn't bother us at all. The guide didn't have great bug spray so she rushed us down the trail explaining things on the way. We did spend a little time at the waterfall and the ruins at the bottom but we ate lunch on the beach and didn't have time to swim before the boat showed up. I am really glad about the boat because it would be a really long walk back up. We got back early in the afternoon so we decided to go to Hawksnest since it is close. We had a good time snorkeling and just playing around in the water. After cleaning up we had a fantastic dinner at Café Roma. They were going to close for 10 days and we were really wishing we could eat there again.

Day 5:
St. Thomas day. We took the Charlotte Amalie ferry. I had printed out a walking tour of downtown which was very interesting and fun. Of course the Fort is being worked on so you can't go in but you can still see the front of it. The castle was closed because there were no ships in so I would try to go when there is a ship in port next time. The tram doesn't run when there are no ships either. We did a little shopping and had lunch at Bumpas which was very good. Next we took a cab to Coral World. There weren't many people there so we got to feed the stingrays a lot. It was fun and without a bunch of people we had front row seats for all the feedings. We took the Red Hook ferry back, snorkeled at the condo, swam in the pool, cleaned up, wandered around, had a beer at The Tap Room and had dinner at Panini Beach.

Day 6:When we drove around the island we stopped at Annaberg and I showed my husband the trail to Waterlemon and told him about the great snorkeling there. We brought a light lunch so we could spend the day. Right after we started the trail we saw a mongoose. My husband was once again wondering what I had gotten him into by the time we got to Waterlemon. We continued past the beach to the rocks closer to the island. It didn't take long before he understood about the great snorkeling there. We went around the island counterclockwise and stopped on the little beach. We saw so many fish, a turtle, a ray and a large lemon shark that was hiding (not) under a rock. After resting and eating we did some more snorkeling looking for the star fish but they weren't there that day. After a quick swim at the condo and cleaning up we went to Wagapalooza for a little bit. Dinner was at La Tapa.

I'm soooo jealous that you got to see Wagapalooza!! I usually go end of April and always miss it. I am a huge doggie lover so I always leave disappointed that I have to leave before the big day. Sounds like you had a great time :D

XOXO

Just curious- what was your "really great bug spray?"

The name has worn off but it was a small spray bottle of 100% deet titled Super Sportsman or Super Woodsman (something like that). I found it in the hunting section of Wal-Mart. It didn't have an odor but it made my nailpolish sticky. A lot of people were using the orange cans of Off and they still had mosquitoes on them.

Thanks for the report. I was especially interested in your comments about Gallows Point. I have rented three units for my family of 10 in August to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I have units in building 8. Did you rent directly from Gallows or from Suite St. John? Thanks again, SRT

I rented from Gallows. I stayed there once before and I really like it. Next time my husband wants to get more toward the middle - unit 10 or 15 and he wants to get an upper.
