Has anyone been to this resort. A friend of mine who wants to stay at a resort with phones, computers etc...is looking for a beautiful place to go for his honeymoon in August and be waited on hand and foot. He doesn't want to travel more than 3-5 hours from New York. Money is no object. Any suggestions?

Little Dix is on Virgin Gorda, BVI. I believe it is the sister property to Caneel Bay on St John.
I have heard good things about it but never been there.
Friends of mine are touring it this week while staying at Caneel. You may also check out Peter Island Resort.

he wants phones and computers? Little Dix is related to Caneel and Caneel doesn't have those things so you may want to check on that. Also, no tv's in the rooms at Caneel. If that matters to your friend.

If they want to be waited on hand and foot and money is no object, then I would recommend Peter Bay Resort. They have internet access in the club, villas but guest rooms are dial-up. Also if truly money is no object, Guana Island (also BVI) is very, very secluded and the ultimate personalized service. Also $700 - $1,100 per night. Or rent the whole damn island for a cool $18K - $20K

Little Dix does not have TV , it does have a business center with wireless.

Caneel will be all wireless by 1/2008, but they do not have tv's service is better at Little Dix then Caneel.

Jumby Bay another Rosewood property off of Antigua has the best service of all, but TV is only available in suites and no wireless except for the business center.
Rosewood Hotels are understated elegance not glitz

They should probably check our Raffles Resort in the Grenadines, exceptional service, rooms, tv, wireless etc.

Parrot Cay Turks and Caicos another wait on you hand and foot resort. Lots of celebs!

I have friends that love Sandy Lane in Barbadoes, and he would not go to a resort without TV or being waited on. High maintenance couple and it is their favorite place.

Oh I almost forgot Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda (BVI) if your friend is a sailor. Very secluded also with great service, views, snorkeling. You have access to all boats on site. Visited here as well. Very nice.

Very small and intimate. No children under 12. Without a doubt, the best resort for us.

Little Dix is Caneel's sister property and offers a "split" between the two including transportation between them. Little Dix is smaller than Caneel but Virgin Gorda is a wonderful island and one of my favorites - it reminds me of St. John before it was "found." It does seem to cater more to families than does Caneel and, in fact, in March when I visited (just for lunch to remember the "old" RockResort days) it was jammed with families from the high-chair crowd to teens. They have totally done over the resort since I was there last and with the expansion, it didn't have quite the same feel as I recall. The spa is lovely. Don't know that there would be individual tech setups in the rooms but am sure they have a business center to check email, etc. as I am sure most places do. Much more intimate but accessable only by water is Brias Creek. Disadvantage is that the accomodations, which are all suites, are not on the swimming beach but on a bay where one cannot swim. The beach is about 3/4 of a mile away but bikes are provided and they do have golf carts which transport guests. It really is delightful with, IMO, the best dining on Virgin Gorda (and the BVI's). Brias just did a complete redo with new owners and has an outdoor showers in their bathrooms. Peter Island is another one of the more intimate lovely spots accessable by boat from Tortola. The beachfront rooms are just footsteps from the sand and water. The beach is wonderful and there is a more private beach, White Beach, where you can have your picnic lunch delivered. But, if one wants to venture out to eat, it like Biras requires a boat ride. Guana Island is spectacular and if money is really no object, one could look at Necker Island as well ... For good reviews and lots of pix you might want to look at Scubamom.com. She is pretty much on target. If it were me, I would choose either Brias or PIR only because of the "kids factor" and probably PIR because of the beachfront - now if they put Biras' accomodations on Deadman's Bay at PIR, that would be perfect alto PIR has done extensive renovations a few years ago. All of the above provide all the creature comforts with lots of personal service.
Jumby Bay too is great! A wonderful beach and lots of personal service. Eating "out" requires a trip to the main island of Antigua but one of the best meals I've ever had in the Caribbean was a nite out from Jumby at Chez Pascal! But I have not been since Rosewood began managing.

Know that both Peter Island and Jumby have phones in the rooms but none have tv.
At Cap Juluca on Anguilla you can rent a tv, they have 2-line phones and a computer for guests.
Most of Virgin Gorda has wifi but you would have to check with each resort - we were not far from Little Dix and we had it so guess they would have the same access and we could connect from Leverick Bay which is near Gun Creek where you catch the boat to Biras so probably they have it as well.

If it were me, I would do any of the suggested Virgin Gorda, Caneel, St Peters Bay etc. I barely watch TV at home (except for renting 24 from Netflix- just started season 2!). I think it would detract from the stark beauty and natural sounds of the island.

I have a feeling that he's going to choose Atlantis Cove which I'm sure won't suck although, it wouldn't be my preference. I will check out the Anguilla hotel with the tv-thanks for the suggestions.

Cap Juluca,Anguilla is the most romantic and beautiful hotel i have ever been to. The beach is perfection! I can't think of a better place to honeymoon.

I've been there three times and would go back again.
The bathrooms are amazing, imagine showering while looking at view of st.martin. All glass and marble with opening to outside with a private sunning area.

They do have internet access in the rooms and some rooms have t.v's if not they are available to rent.

Wow, Cap Julica looks amazing. Are there points of interest on the island besides the resort i.e. shops, restaurants, etc...?

Honestly everytime we go we just totally relax and enjoy just lounging around.We rent a car and go out for lunch a few days and breakfast too.All guest at CapJuluca are served continental breakfast on their terrace every morning.The views are beautiful on the terraces looking out to the ocean and the hills of St.Martin.

Scilly Cay is a small island(5 min.boat ride) that alot of people go and eat lobster and spend a few hours.Certain days they have live music there.

Restaurants are very good in Anguilla and one should never take a meal plan with so many dining choices.

Some people go on snorkling day trips.There is no shopping to speak of.If shopping is your thing you could take the ferry to St.Martin for the day but i have met couples who have and said they could'nt wait to get back to Anguilla.
