More water than you think you will need. We did it (for the second time) in February (last year) and we went through at least 4 liters of water and the ranger said it was cool day in terms of temp.
Keep lunch simple. The lunch stop is at the petroglyphs and there isn't a lot of room to spread out, you are sort of perched on rocks. I wouldn't want to assemble sandwiches or otherwise fuss with food at that site.
Take a trash bag for your lunch trash to keep you backpack clean.

You've already got your plan and you should stick with it.
We did it a different way. We drove to the end of Reef Bay Rd and parked, then hiked along the South shore beach to where the Reef Bay trail meets the beach, then hiked up to the petroglyphs and the Reef Bay house ruins. Then we hiked back to our car. No significant hills, beautiful along the beach, but footwear was a pain (literally) from the beach sand. Someone wrote a post about this with more details and landmarks. I think we did the whole thing and were back in town for lunch and another beach by mid-afternoon. I think the sugar mill ruins at the bottom of the Reef Bay trail was my favorite part. And the South shore is gorgeous.
Enjoy.
