Where have all the donkeys gone?

So we've been here since Tuesday, driven all over the island at all different times of day, and have yet to see a single donkey.
What's up with that?

We saw a couple of cuties wandering between salt pond and shipwreck landing. They popped their heads into the car window to say hello
They were the only sightings so far though ....

Last Feb we didn't see any until our third trip to Coral Bay- maybe they have decided to hang out on the quiet side of St John but we were wondering if the authorities were taking steps to limit the donkey population.

All last week there were two groups of about 8 all over Centerline Road (at least in the mornings) - maybe they are searching for the Easter Bunny

Try hiking into Honeymoon, there were 4-5 hanging out near the beach and they helped themselves to our backpack

We see them several times a day! MG, I'll trade you for all the amazing things you see in the water. This is the worst luck I've ever had snorkeling

We're staying in Coral Bay, we've been up and down Centerline dozens of times - still nothing.

We finally saw some donkeys out on the East End on Monday, and 2 on Centerline on our way to the walk of woe on Tuesday. Normally we would see them every day, so I just thought it was strange.
