Living like there's no tomorrow - April trip booked

So all our good judgment and plans to budget this year have just been thrown out the window (how St. John can do that to you). We could have found a lovely condo in Destin, Florida I'm sure, flights for under $300 rather than $600 a pop. But a few glasses of wine and my husband's convincing argument about living life to the fullest and before you know it we've booked a trip! The week after Easter nearly everything's rented on St. John so we'll split time between STT, STJ and Tortola. Tortola will be new for us, but we've heard great things and are very excited! Any suggestions for beaches, restaurants on Tortola (West End)? :D

Just spent some time on Tortola. First: AVOID Sebastians On The Beach at all costs. Our food was microwaved and then reheated. White wine was hot and staff was nasty and inattentive.

Bananaqeets is a wonderful restaurant. High on a hill, best sunset view, and wonderful food and great staff. Myetts, Cane Garden Bay, has a wonderful beach, lovely staff and outdoor restaurant that overlooks the beautiful bay.

RENT A JEEP, not a car. The hills on Tortola make St John look almost flat!
St Thomas: Grand Cruz, in Yacht Harbor, has wonderful food, great staff and a view of the super yachts. Pisces, in Red Hook, is a lovely Italian restaurant and breakfast at Molly Malone's,also Red Hook, is nice...especially the French Toast and Mimosa!

West End restaurants - Fish n Lime, Cruzin, Clubhouse at Frenchman's. Beaches Smugglers Cove, Cane Garden Bay, Brewers Bay.

Where are you staying on Tortola?

Cheers, RickG

D Coal Pot in Little Apple Bay on Zion Hill Road is also getting good reviews.

This villa looks stunning.

What are the logistics of getting to Tortola? Just curious...

There are ferries that run from St Thomas to Tortola (50 min) or St. John to Tortola (30 min) about three times a day. I'm not sure if the St Thomas ferry stops in St John on the way. The villa owner offered to reserve our vehicle and the car rental company (Jerry's) will meet us at the ferry. Sounds easy - similar to the St. John journey but fewer ferry times.

Awesome! We just made the leap last week too! This will be our 6th trip back. We will stay on the northside of STT then take day trips to STJ. We are hoping to take a day trip to the BVI's this trip too. Cheers!

Just wanted to add there is an airport on Tortola...so it's also nice to fly nonstop to San Juan then a short little flight on to Tortola.

If you like music, go to Quito's in Cane Garden Bay on Friday or Sat. night when Quito performs (make sure he'll be there first) He performs solo one night and then with his band, The Edge, the other night. One of the best musicians in the Caribbean!
If you can go up to Sage mountain, the highest point on the island and a national park. Nice easy trails and fantastic views!

Good for you, 2 beachbums!

Didn't know that Stjchica! We weren't planning Tortola originally so I didn't even think about going that route! I don't even want to look in case the flights are cheaper, but good to know. :D

Check the live music schedule for Myett's in Cane Garden Bay. Kap Eye's happy hour show Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday is popular. Check the schedule to be certain. The Elm on Cane Garden Bay has a beach bbq and live music on Sundays.

Tortola is a big place. There will be plenty going on. Based on your location, there's plenty between Smuggler's Cove and Brewer's Bay to keep you busy.
