Keksie's Trip Part 1

Pre-trip:
To decide where we wanted to go this year I planned three different itineraries and my husband picked which one he wanted to go on. We are in our early 50-s and very active. I had been to St. John many years ago and always wanted to go back so that was one choice. Dominica (still want to go) and a cruise (we have been on 2 so far) were the other options. He picked St. John so I started really planning and hoping that this would be a great trip so he would love St. John as much as I do. I made reservations with Delta (good arrival time), at Gallows Point (the villas that I wanted were booked), Conrad Sutton (then I read the bad reviews and now I am a little worried), a day trip with New Horizons II (got an email saying it was unavailable but Breakaway was available with the same trip just a different boat), and made a reservation with the park service for the Reef Bay Hike. I made a list of restaurants with price ranges, locations, whether reservations were required and notes about the food. I also read the forums and some travel books to get a lot of tips and good ideas.
Day 1:
Our plane was to leave at 6:00 a.m. but due to crew rest it left at 7:00 a.m. instead. This only gave us a 34-minute layover in Atlanta. We landed a little late and by the time we got off the plane we had 27- minutes to get from the B terminal to the far reaches of the A terminal. We boarded with 6 minutes to spare. A nice cardio workout. Our luggage even made it. We caught a taxi to Red Hook. My husband refers to this as "Mr. Toad-s Wild Ride." We made many stops at different places before we arrived at Red Hook and he was beginning to understand the part about it being a little hilly and turning a little green. As soon as we arrived at Red Hook we got tickets and hurried to the ferry that was just leaving. By this time we are a little tired and very hungry. (The original plan was to grab a bite in Atlanta but instead we had the non-filling snacks on the plane). We walked to Conrad Sutton-s to get our jeep. No problems at all and every one was very nice. I drove to Gallows Point and we got checked in. The rum and ting really tasted good at this point. After unpacking and unwinding we walked to town and had a very nice dinner with drinks at Morgan-s Mango. We were tired since we had gotten up at 3:00 a.m. so we waited until the next day to go to the store. We brought coffee so we can pick up breakfast on the way to the store.

Like the way you start out with different trip ideas-Dominica's been on my short list too-maybe some day! We've always had good luck with Conrad Sutton-glad you did too. Looking forward to the rest of the reports!
