Taking food into BVI

We will be spending a week on STJ in early March, followed by a week sailing in the BVI. This will be our 6th trip to a Westin time share, but our first going on to the BVi. We generally have leftover condiments, butter, cream, etc, which we have always just left in the villa fridge, but wonder if we can take them with us into the BVI? We will have a Polar Bear backpack cooler, so transporting cold things won't be a problem. Has anyone had any experiences with transporting opened food items int BVI?

We do it. I just declare what we're bringing. "I'm going sailing and brought my leftovers." "Anything good?" "Leftover fish, some ribs, provisions." "Sounds good, have fun." If you're bringing 40 lbs of frozen meat for a crew of 12 you might get a couple of dollars of duty.

New clothes, towels, linens, etc. are something that will get you hit with duty. Take the tags off, they're used.

Thanks, Rick - sounds like honesty is the best policy. I' m the one who usually gets accused of offering TMI in these situations, but sounds like this I'll be the right one in this situation.

Looking at your ticker, it looks like we might overlap. We'll be on CYOA's Island Angel, on STJ March 9 and checking in Sopers Hole March 10, back to STJ March 14. See ya at the Pub.
