I just found out from American Airlines that our flight out on our last day will be at 8:45 am, not 1:20 pm like we originally booked. That means our last night will now be on STT instead of St John, at the Best Western Carib Beach since it is right next to the airport.

We will probably check out from our St. John accomodations and take the ferry over to St. Thomas around noon the day before our departure. Then spend the afternoon either at Magens Bay beach or shopping in downtown CA. My question is what we should do with our luggage while we are doing that. Will we have to take a cab all the way to the hotel and ask them to hold the luggage until we get there later? Or are there big enough lockers at either Magens Bay or downtown CA where we can store our luggage?

We have left luggage for a couple of hours with the cab drivers at the CA/STJ ferry dock before going to the airport.
I think the Visitor's Center/Tourist Info building in the same area will hold luggage for a small fee.

In previous years I would take the ferry to downtown and then walk a short distance to the visitor center. They will hold you bags for about 3 bucks. They also have refreshments,a nice bathroom and will call u a cab when u are ready to go.

The Visitor Center was closed when we were there in December - the outside of the building looked as though it had been closed for a while so not sure what's going on there. That was always our luggage drop off and meeting place. This last trip we used a STT taxi driver to hold our luggage and pick us up at an assigned time to make it to the airport. He was polite and on time so I got his business card. His name is Alphonso Hanley 340-998-9443. He drove a van so could handle a fairly large group, but when he picked us up at the agreed time it was just the 5 in my group on the ride to the airport....we didn't have to wait to fill up the van.

I rent my jeep on STT and leave my luggage in the back while we tour the island. Otherwise, I'd drop the luggage at the hotel and head out from there. Lindbergh Beach is good, and the Island Beachcomber has a good beach bar with good lunch. We're doing exactly that in June. Probably cab over to French Town for dinner at Pie Whole.
