High Season vs Off Season

I made a comment on somebody's Christmas trip report, but I thought I would post for all to read.

High Season, right now is not busy. I was able to get seats/tables at Joes Rum Hut for Happy Hour this past week, walk in to Waterfront Bistro, High Tide and Virgin Fire with guests, with out reservations. Was able to actually find produce, dairy and bread at Starfish still on the shelves, late Saturday afternoon.

Christmas is the busiest time on the island, even the "kids" servers/bartenders/retail do not party after work because they have to work long shifts during the days and nights.

Life is back to normal on island! And the weather is fabulous, beats being in the cold any day!

Btw Virgin Fire is becoming one of my favorite new restaurants on island. I love their half price appetizer menu during happy hour 4:30-6:00

Me too - It was on the maybe list for April. Now it's on the definite list and I'm noting to go during happy hour. Three more months - I think I can make it.

Thanks for the update, Betty. Early January seems to be a little less busy ---I hope it is not too crazy by early February. I am excited to try out Virgin Fire and Cruz Bay Landing on this next trip.

We had a delicious breakfast at Cruz Bay Landing, menu at night looks good and affordable. The owner used to be a co-owner at Woodys so same quality and you don't have cars whizzing by you.

I have heard from a few local friends that they have noticed a difference in Woodys with new owners. I will have to give it a try to decide for myself.

Etta's Kitchen in the Marketplace gets 2 thumbs up from us. It is Caribbean cooking across from Post Net where the Taqueria was.

Waterfront Bistro has been consistently fabulous, I think this is the best that they have been in the 5 plus years we have been eating there. I am a little partial as my daughter works there, But honestly I think the quality is the best it has been. My daughter says they are getting a lot of repeat business from guests who enjoyed it so much. They keep coming back night after night.

We are going to Caneel Sushi tomorrow night with a group of friends, I will let you all know how it is. I am very interested in having dessert at their Gelato Bar. Everyone is raving about it!

We have guests staying with us and they raved about ZoZo's, maybe we will try it for my birthday end of January :)

Ocean 362 was very excellent for 3 out of 4 of us. One entree was not great, bland and tough, the chef tasted and agreed. Her entree was comped and dessert for the table was comped. Service was excellent. Being a new restaurant, they still have a few kinks to work out. The staff is a little green, Zozo's staff moved with them. The chef had to hire who he could in the late fall, but they are trying.
