A friend is considering renting Harbour View at Battery Hill. Does anyone have any input on the unit, can you walk to town, and how easy is it to get a taxi if you don't want to rent a car?

Although I've never stayed in the Harbor View unit at Battery Hill, I've toured it. Let me know what questions you/your friend might have.

My wife and I typically stay at Battery Hill because it is within walking distance to/from Cruz Bay. We only rent a car on the days we need one. It's a fairly steep 5-minute walk down (Hill Street) to town, and a not-so-steep 10-minute walk back up (Bay Street and Frangipani Lane).

As to taxis, there are always taxis waiting at the Cruz Bay Taxi Stand. From Battery Hill you could call the taxi stand at 340-693-7530 for a pickup.
