Is this an option from STJ, right now? If this continues into our second week we may consider it.

Looks like it's running. Kinda pricey but, it gets you there for a full day of beach!

MB: I seem to remember reading that since the BVI ferries leave from the NPS dock, which is closed, they are no longer running. I could be mistaken, and can't find the original article. Anybody else know?

This is sort of what I was thinking but was looking for confirmation, either way.

Has there been any confirmation on this? I was planning on doing this when we head down in a couple weeks.... I still can't believe how this is still happening. I usually worry about going in October because of hurricanes, not for having the most beautiful beaches closed :(

I called Inter-Island Boat Services earlier this morning, which runs the Cruz Bay to Jost Van Dyke ferry, and they just said that they are still running, not using the NPS dock. Their phone number is (340) 776 6597.

All the best,

Kevin

Yes the ferries leave from what is known as the Internatonal Departure Dock which, even though shares the same "harbor " as the National Park Dock, is not the same.

We have never gone to Jost by Ferry...but..just curious if we would need to make reservations for a Saturday trip and returning on Sunday? I think we have decided to go over for at least one night during our stay..

JJ: Go for it! It's very low season, and there is bound to be space at Ivan's Stress-Free. No harm calling ahead, though.

We are considering taking the ferry to JVD in December! I know it leaves at 8:30 I think, but just curious....does it go to the Great Harbour areato and from? And what about passport check-in, etc????

Yes you have to be at the office on St John at 8am for a departure at 8:30am and you check in at BVI Customs at Great Harbour at the small office that is on the far left as you approach the bay - unless they drop off at Tortola first (they never announce this until you are on the ferry) in which case you clear on Tortola and upon arrival on JVD you proceed to wherever you want. If they decide to stop on Tortola first it can eat into your day - they have done this the last 3 times we went to JVD and once we did not arrive on JVD until around 10:30am !!!!
