Hawksnest. Got a few hours in before being asked to get out of the water by a Park Ranger.

Think you should just dress up like a turtle and stay in the water. They'll never know.

Did you leave?

Did the ranger stay to make sure you left?

What if you were out snorkeling? Would they wait on the beach for hours for you to come in? Or would they put on their snorkel gear and hunt you down?

I'd say dress up as a shark and they will probably leave you alone. You could snorkel all day with a fin on your back!

I'm sorry. This is getting incredibly ridiculous. I've already contacted my congress folks and gave them my opinion.

forget your Congressman, the Prez is acting out. like the Memorials, clearly nothing *had* to happen to the beaches, but it's just more fun that way:

So glad you're out there making the most of it and at least getting some beach time.

Did you drive there? If so, was your car ticketed?

Have you tried going out to Vie's?

I would have told him "I can't hear you" and made him come in for me :)

I just returned from swimming Maho where it was business as normal - no ranger (probably just jinxed that) and a bunch of people having a great time.

There is a new Facebook page for those of you on Facebook called Occupy St. John Beaches for those interested.

It sure would be nice if we could just send them all home packing in DC and start all over again. I can imagine the for-fathers are turning over in ther graves right about now , what a mess.

We did drive and parked on the road not in the parking lot. Thought about a ticket but there was none, thankfully.
Might get an early jump on Vie 's tmrw just so there is no question.

Thankfully we are at a lovely villa so spending the afternoon here at the pool, is no loss in the scheme of things.

What exactly did the ranger say to you? Did he indicate that if you didn't leave he would give you a ticket with some sort of fine? Very curious. I was hoping that maybe they just had to go through the motions but would not actually do anything.

There were maybe 8-10 people on the beach, all just sort of floating close to shoreline. He just yelled out "everyone must get out of the water. The park is closed." Everyone complied and he did stay around to make sure everyone cleared out.
