Getting close to choosing a villa...Wind chime or Perelandra

I'm getting close to making a decision on where to stay for our spring 2104 vacation...I need to decide so I can get back to the rest of my life! I've been letting a lot of things slide while Im online doing villa research!
So I've narrowed it down to these 2: Wind chime (vrbo 335426) or Perelandra (vrbo18786). I believe both homes will fit our needs perfectly, both are nearly the same price. I think it mostly comes down to views and location.
Wind chime is on Gift Hill so I think the views may be more expansive and I think it will feel more secluded and private...we'll be traveling with our 2 kids (9 and 6) so not looking for clothing optional privacy but peaceful would nice! However, there are no sunset views and I think it will be less convenient to Cruz Bay, where we plan on being most evenings. I also wonder how the difficult the trip up the hill might be. Also, I'm having a harder time finding reviews on this propery so I guess I'd feel more confident if I had a little more positive feedback. It sure looks beautiful in the photos though!
Perelandra also looks fabulous. It's in Cruz Bay, so very convenient to town....but may feel less private, not sure. The view may not be as expansive as a view on Gift Hill but there are sunset views which would be great.
Like I said, it's really time for me to make a choice...any input you may have to help me would be so appreciated!!

I have not been to either of those villas, but both look amazing.
First, let me say I LOVE a screened porch for sitting out at night, so Perelandra gets a point in my book.
But, it looks to me from the pictures that you can only access the lower bedroom from outside stairs, which is not the best when traveling with a 6 year old (I know my 6 year old was awake last night at 12:30am asking for water). I would just ask the manager or anyone who knows about the stairs (internal or only external).
Wind Chime looks like it may have 2 bedroom in the main house with the master in a separate pod.
I would confirm the location of the stairs in both houses and see if that doesn't make you decision easier.

I've stayed at Perelandra twice (2007 & 2008) and it remains one of my favorite villas. It was where we stayed on our first visit, so it holds a special place in my heart. They have done some work on it since (including the screened in porch) but even before it was beautiful.

In terms of convenience the location can't be beat. If you're worried about privacy, no need. It is very quiet and you cannot see or hear any neighbors. I barely ever wore clothes outside (TMI). :) When we were there they were just building Sirenusa, so there was some construction noise that never bothered us, but they are done with that now I believe.

The views over Cruz Bay and St. Thomas are amazing. We loved watching the ferry go back and forth from STT. The downstairs bedroom is accessed from an inside staircase, unless that has changed since, but I can't imagine why it would have? The staircase is fine, but I would be slightly nervous for small kids and people with mobility issues since it is a spiral style staircase (not the metal kind, it is actually built in).

The bedroom sizes are comparable, but the upstairs one is better because of the view. There isn't really much of a view downstairs. The villa had everything we could possibly need and more.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I love Gift Hill but I'm not so sure about those wooden boards around the pool. I wonder about splinters for the kids. Both look like great choices though!

We stayed @ Perelandra for our 2010 trip to STJ.

It was clean, reasonably accommodated, and the Dave, Robin, & staff (Cimmaron Property Management) were reasonably good at addressing issues in a timely manner. The view was very good. Lots of iguanas and such in the trees around the property, too.

The downstairs bedroom had a very musty smell to it, though - probably stayed closed up too much. Until I recently looked @ our pics from our trip, I forgot about the spiral stairs going from the main floor down to the lower bedroom. My parents, in their late 60's at the time, we less than thrilled with that feature. But you can get to it from pool deck, too.

Since then, it appears as if they've made some nice upgrades. The deck was wood, but now appears to be coral/tiled. Kitchen cabinets and appliances were upgraded. I don't believe that the screened in porch @ the east end of the deck was there back in '10, but I could be wrong.

I'd give it a 7/10 based on condition back in 2010.
