had fun, dodged a bullet, got pia validation of hall pass

final shorter post before we leave island with heavy hearts & exceedingly high blood sugar thursday morning. though weather less than ideal, i have been here with worse (oct 05 with grandkids), have had better weather with less fun (mack wasn't on those trips), but hve always had a wonderful time. promise i'll do ligit trip report when we get home (no pics) but each "live on island post" had some truth, some obamaspeak, and some just plan fun.
things worth noting. joe's rum hut has a great Big g burger & pain killers, views and wait staff and world's best string fries. little lameshur is a long drive and i can honestly understand why the wives started screaming anytime we suggested that as 1st stop, but the snorkeling is average. going there is a "guy" kind of trip. they should rename it "tim allen bay" and have a power tool kiosk near the portalet. in all my trips neither hawksnest, nor gibney, nor trunk (non crusie day), nor maho, nor frances, nor little lameshur, nor any of those other beaches we made on prior trips have disappointed. stj has different beaches for different folks, you know kind of like baskin & robbins. not everyone likes vanilla at the mall though at my age it's starting to taste a little better.
firsts: smoothie stand (8 stops in 6 days - so that;'s where the cash went); joe's rum hut (afraid i'd have to leave mack on island and he was heart broken when his favorite view was not available today); jumbo sea turtle that ate more grass at myho than we did fries at joes; and staying on mamey peak with those great views and 40 mph winds. actually the wind has finally died down some but it's getting a little warmer.
speaking of winds. i normally spend hrs checking weather forecast for the islands starting where potential problems originateoff africa. chantal caught me by surprise. having endured the winds on mamey peak while c passed by hundreds of miles to the south, i may have made my last trip during hurricane season until i can get tim to finish fixing my lear jet and the runway at what was maho campground for a quick getaway. 2 nights ago we were thinking of lower ground then we thought about flooding. probably wasn't close for locals but for a guy who still has a lot of stuff on his bucket list, too close for my comfort. dodged the bullet.
not withstanding my elaborate anouncements beginning with 7/4 arrival and the reputation that surely preceded me, NOT A SOUL, acknownledged my nor mack's existence (and certainly not presence). i had promised wife (onced named bride but diana2 suggested that was tacky name for someone who was mother of my children and stuck with me over 47 yrs, well?), i'd bring back a my hall pass or a local napkin signed by an adoring follower. had to settle with stopping by the tourist info booth today while looking for slimmans lot and have pia vailidate my hall pass. pia, you're the best eventhough you kept denying you had any earthly idea who i was. mack was really let down. then i reminded him that little winkers like you have to be careful around wild and crazy guys. if ann happens to call to verify you did sign off on pass, do as i say, not as i do, be honest and confirm i was in town. do as i say & there will be a big tip next time (wait staff at joe's and smoothies girls wiped us out this trip.
till next time.
