Coral Bay or Rendezvous area villa question

Just back from 10 idyllic days in St. John, our 4th trip in 4 years. This is getting to be a habit! I've been a lurker for years, and have gleaned a lot of great info on this site, so I plan to post my first trip report soon and try to figure out how to add photos (although I have a Mac, so not sure how I do this). Anyway, it's just my husband and I, and we love privacy and amenities and a pool and good taste. Still searching for that perfect villa. Loved one we stayed at last year, La Sirena, but it was a little too far a haul out near Salt Pond. We love the Coral Bay side of the island, but we also love the area near Ditleff and Klein Bay, Rendezvous, I think. Anyone out there have any recommendations for a fabulous villa? Probably not more than $2300 a week I think. All suggestions would be welcome. Also had the most amazing native coleslaw made by Doris at Starfish Market and am desperately trying to find the recipe. And thanks for the info on having a porter take care of things at the St. Thomas airport on the way home. We left downtown Charlotte Amalie and we were at the gate in 1/2 hour. My husband wouldn't believe me about the porter, so we spent almost 3 hours waiting to get on our plane. Mmmmmmm.

Check out Miles Away from Destination St. John, it sounds like just what you're looking for. We will be there for the second time later in the year.

It is very private, handsomely decorated and only 10 minutes from Cruz Bay. I posted a review after our first stay. (check the villa review link under St John at the top of the page)

We stayed here last year-might be something like what you're looking for-feel free to email if you have any questions and good luck in the search-it's always part of the fun!

We drove past La Sirena last week. It is out there; probably the second most remote villa on the island. Sea Spirit has to be the most remote.
Rendezvous Bay has a great breeze, great big breeze, blowing all the time, across the pool, chilling pool breeze. We stay off the South side and focus on the Wester exposure for that sunset tan.
That being said, we have friends who are staying at Surfside for the second time in a row through CV. Cliffside has been on my list to check out. We are staying at Eaglesnest through VIVA for Halloween. Amorita has screened areas.

We had friends stay at surfside too - in 2001 - while we stayed even further out at Cocolobo. It was LITERALLY at the end of the road! Further out than you probably want to be - about 20 minutes to cruz bay.
Well, at the time it was 1/2 a road, as it was still under construction. Absolutely private. Great pool and main floor, the master bed and bath were a little dated but may have been updated since 2001.
Amazing views!

Yikes! We are staying at Sea Spirit in July! I guess we are staying at the most remote villa on the island? I am sure it will be fine because it is only the two of us and it is our 20th Anniversay but I would like to make it to Cruz Bay a few times. Does anyone know how long that ride will be? It should be intersting!

How many spare tires ya got? Seriously, the two bays on each side are pristine. But, the rutted dirt roads are littered with the hulks of 4x4s that tried to get there and failed.
Cruz Bay? 35 minutes with good light and weather... once you get on a graded road with an intact oil pan.

Sea Spirit is the only villa we've stayed at on St. John, I think it is the most magical place in the world!!! Sure, it's small and doesn't have all the amenities of some of the other places, but you feel like you're the only people on the island. Always a nice breeze, constant sound of the surf, and you can't see another house or person. And it's not that far of a drive back to Coral Bay, we were always scooting to Shipwreck or Skinny's for a rum.
I can't think of a better place to celebrate your anniversary! You may not want to go to Cruz Bay very often, but if you do, it's about a 20 minute ride.

We stayed at Le Virage last year and will be arriving there again tomorrow.
Views are fantastic, you are high up so there are no houses in your view which I like. House is 4 bedrooms and we had another couple last year but this year it's just the two of us.
Main area is all open with wall of sliding doors, great kitchen and outside showers.

My wife and I absolutely love the laid back atmosphere of Coral Bay and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.
We are staying at Memory Daze (Windspree) this year and it looks absolutely incredible.

However, 2 very close runner up's were -- St. John Livin and Island Dreams (bookitvi.com)

The last two properties should fit right in your budget and a short drive up the hill overlooking Aqua Bistro.
Good luck. I can give you a report on Memory Daze when we get back on June 9th.

Check out Villa Claudia. Just got back April 29th and we loved this villa. It over looks Klein Bay and is only about a 10 minute drive to Cruz Bay.
