working on a last minute trip with snorkel buddy for arrival on july 4th lving 7/11. have a couple of acceptable villas on coral bay side and have arranged for jeep rental on stt. big issue is available seats on delta out of atl since we will be flying standby. looks pretty good now but a lot can happen in 3 weeks. won't be comfortable with seat availability till 7/1 or 2 since we also have to worry about standyby priority for my travel buddy.
in case works out does anyone know if ALL car barges are scheduled to be running on the 4th and will starfish market will be open. assume would need to go from barge to starfish then southshore rd and gifft hill rds to get to coral bay area, thus avoiding cruz bay stuff on the 4th.
is there anything else i need to know about due to arrival date? not really interested in carnival activity on the 4th.

papabou

just called starfish and they say they will be open on the 4th. pb

We arrived on July 4th for our honeymoon back in 2011. If I recall, we caught the 2pm ferry from Redhook and into Cruz Bay as the parade was winding down. We had no issues getting out of town via Centerline as it was open above the roundabout. I don't think you'll have any issues getting over to the Coral Bay side.

Nobody can predict what the car barge service numbers will be from one day to another -- they run every barge that is mechanically available everyday.
Red Hook will be a bit of a traffic circus in the morning before the Parade and in the early evening for the Fireworks.
Just have him get in line at the barge and when getting off in Enighed Pond head East.
