Love the pics, they bring back some funny memories...
Before our second trip to STJ, I'd done a lot of research on this forum and in books like Feet, Fins & 4WD...and in several places, I'd read where Solomon was the beach where nudists went. We laughed it off, but sure enough, as my wife and I descended that small spur trail to the beach from the Lind Point trail, we saw through the trees some old dude's ghost white derriere staring back at us and my wife was like, "OMG, it is a nude beach." Turns out he was just changing his swim trunks or something and didn't realize anyone was around.
Love the palm tree spot to on Solomon...perfect place to set up shop. I also remember laying under that palm, looking up at the sky and having this exchange with my wife:
"Oh, wow, that's a cool looking bird."
"It's a freaking bird!"
"Hey, take it easy, I just thought you might like to see it."
"No, Sweetheart, I said, 'it's a frigate bird,' not a freaking bird."
Later that same trip, we spent an afternoon at Salt Pond and I wanted to hike Ram Head, but we'd been on the move all day and my wife just wanted to read her trashy chick lit novel under a tree. So I took off by myself and just as I got the tip of Ram Head, the clouds opened up and it poured, I mean like monsoon style. I turned and tried to hurry back, but it's hard in the rain. Anyway, by the time I got back to the beach, there was only one person left...she was soaking wet and so was her chick lit book because somebody had still had the jeep keys with him...let me just say that was very long, cold, and deafeningly quiet march back up to the car...fortunately, Tourist Trap was open and Cheryl whipped us up a couple of frozen concotions that warmed us right up.
