Recommendations of restaurants in Charlotte Amalie

This question may have been asked many times but we would really appreciate your recommendations of restaurants for dinner in CA. We'll be staying at The Green Iguana Hotel for a night after our trip to St. John, and since it will be the last dinner on our vacation to USVI, we would rather it not disappoint. We both love seafood - my husband loves fish and I love shellfish.
We've heard good things about Banana Tree and Cuzzin's. Can anyone give us the insight on these places?
If you have any other recommendations, we would really appreciate hearing that too.
Thank you very much in advance!

I second the Banana Tree Grill. Perched high on the hill/mountain(??LOL)overlooking the harbor at CA the view is sooo romantic..I recommend arriving before dusk to watch the cruise ships all pulling out and then the lights all coming on. I believe the restaurant is located at Blubeards's Castle?? Maybe not. I loved the menu and there were many items I was interested in trying..One of my favorite spots in the Virgin Islands.

Lots of good local flavor at Cuzzins. If you have to have a nice local meal, that's the place I'd head to.

We just got back to STJ from STT (had dinner and then went to see Alvin Ailey) and had dinner in the new Yacht Haven Grande at Grande Cru restaurant - not cheap but wonderful food - we will definately eat there again :)

Cuzzin's would get my vote. Authentic local food done nicely, in a beautiful historic location.

Thank you so much everyone.
Cuzzin’s seems to be popular. Do you think we should make a reservation in advance or can we just walk in for dinner? I believe they are pretty casual dress-code-wise, am I correct?

Pia,
For the future, could you give us more information about Grande Cru restaurant? It seems fairly upscale - what is their dress code?

Cuzzins is casual dress. The food is good, but the portions are HUGE. I remember John got the kingfish and it was THREE kingfish steaks! I had the provisions plate and there was enough for probably four people. You might want to split something.

Reservatons are always a good Idea! They don't serve dinner on Sundays and Mondays.

Bluebeard's Castle has two good restaurants: Banana Tree Grille and Room with a View. BTG is more open while RWAV is enclosed except for a few tables.

Herve (French) at Government Hill is also good and has a nice view. Lots of stairs though.

We had a dinner at Herve several years ago when we first stayed in CA (we haven’t stayed in St. Thomas since then). My memories are a bit vague but they had good food and a view. I do clearly remember the steps leading to the restaurant though!
