After sunset this evening, a friend who is helping us with projects at Plumeria spotted a razor-thin crescent moon, a mere 36 hours after the new moon. My tripod-mounted DSLR utterly refused to cooperate due to the dim light, but my point and shoot Canon S110 proved more cooperative. The photos below are braced but hand-held, and don't really do it justice; the views in the telescope were really beautiful, and I don't think that I ever have seen a thinner crescent moon.
