We always stay on the Cruz Bay side when on Island...but will be on the Coral Bay side this June. We always drive over and eat at Skinny Legs and Shipwreck Landing at least once. Since we will be staying in that area this time I was hoping maybe some of you will share the names of other good places to eat ! It would be great to know also what do you GET there and Why? Will add that half of our group of 8 loves fish (me) and seafoods ! While a couple of the others are more of the steak or burgers type. Good BBQ is always a winner !
Thanks ...
Sherry

Interested in seeing the responses as we're in a similar situation...staying near Coral Bay for the first time on this our 5th trip to STJ.
Skinny's (cheeseburgers), Shipwreck (usually whatever grilled fish they have on special), Tourist Trap (lobster rolls, pork nachos) and Vie's Snack Shack (garlic fried chicken, conch fritters) are all places we've been to in the past and will definitely visit again. Love them all.
On this trip, we're definitely going to try Aqua Bistro...it gets really good reviews and I think the fare is very similar to Shipwreck. Miss Lucy's Sunday brunch is on the list too.
Sweet Plantains is another one I hear good things about and I believe on at least one night a week, they specialize in Indian food.
Minde on the forum swears by a new place called Pink Ekeate and says they have a good chicken roti which is a fave dish of mine. And finally, Donkey Diner (pizza) gets a lot of rave reviews.
As for BBQ, I've heard there is a place (maybe called Reggies?) that recently opened up in Coral Bay.

WHOPEE...

Already on a roll here !
Thank You ....Thank You...and ...Thank You !!! FOOD PORN WELCOME !!!
Sounding very good. I plan to share this link with all the group coming with us !
I love Grouper, Mahi, Snapper...and on and on ! Hubby loves everything!
Yikes...the one thing I'm finding is not many like curry foods. Well I know there are a lot choices! Speaking of Donkey Diner Pizza....Usually when we arrive that first day it is late afternoon and everyone is tired from travel, so we have always just ordered Pizzas from Ronnie's for our first dinner. Can you get those everyday at Donkey Diner or just certain days of the week? Stuffed French Toast...NOW YOU'RE TALKING MY LANGUAGE

Are all the restaurants in Coral Bay more laid back and casual?
I don't remember seeing any nicer type restaurants there. Just wondering?? And if so, why is that?

Aqua Bistro is delicious. Ponzu tuna is incredible! Also, love their scallops. Hubby had the fish picatta (can't remember the specific fish) and raved about it (Mr. Pia's recommendation). The onion rings are also to die for!
Sweet Plantains would be my 2nd favorite. We've typically gone on Curry Night (fridays and saturdays) and LOVED IT! More adventurous but delicious!

Les is sooo used to being called Mr Pia
Flip Flop - the fish that night was the catch of the day and it was snapper - snapper piccata is now Mr Pia's favorite
Donkey Diner has pizza everyday they are open - and my friend, a "diehard" Ronnie's fan said (as we were eating Ronnie's on my deck (after eating Donkey Diners the week before) that DD now beats Ronnie's - we were eating the white pizza with garlic, chicken and artichoke - soooo good (we also eat the pepperoni with extra pepperoni and extra cheese

Mrs.Lucy's is also great for dinner, we're also thinking of trying it for lunch this year as well. Last year we went on our last night, Friday night, and they also had a guy playing guitar. Can't remember what we had but it was delicious. Also great rum punch.

stjchica: Vie's, Tourist Trap, and Sylvia's Clean Plate are definitely more laid back and very casual...but the food was great.
I would consider Aqua Bistro as a nicer restaurant. We never made it to Sweet Plantains...maybe next trip......
