A St. John Hotline

Bigcheese's drunk dialing confession and all the "Missing St. John" postings got me to thinking that St. John needs a hotline, and it could be profitable, even! I'm picturing a place where you could call for 99cents/minute and ramble on about the weather, your favorite meals, the local characters, a charter trip, etc. Or it could be used as a sort of St.John fix, like those sex phone lines, only the St. John end talks about the cool breezes at the moment, or the rainbow over St. Thomas. Or you could ask your last minute questions - like the people have who are leaving tomorrow, and haven't rented a car yet, or where the cheapest place to buy "x" is, or if they can take a bus to the East end. For Father's Day, you could have "St. John" call your dad!
Kind of like the Spice Cam, that we're addicted to, but interactive.
I know 54b could develop this idea into something!

Minde, that sounds like a dream job! With Skype, we could incorporate sunset views, platters of conch fritters, iguanas on the move, waves crashing on the beach etc.
Great idea!!

You're assuming I was drunk.
Like last Year's T Shirt said; " In Dog Beers...I've Only Had One"
Fun Idea...more discussion on Island in a few days.

The forum fills a need, for sure! I was thinking something more real-time and live - an actual voice at the other end of the phone.
You're right Bigcheese - no offense intended!

Hmm - I have often thought about adding an actual "chat" feature to the site... something to think about/investigate deeper maybe -

Ha ha ha, " In Dog Beers...I've Only Had One" I love that, I'm going to use that myself. Maybe even this afternoon...

Anthony,
Love the idea of a chat feature!
Minde.... you are funny.
P.S. Remind me to check if BigCheeze has stayed at the next villa I go to. Wouldn't it be fun to get a call from me at the villa? That's truly "St John Calling"

Minde, much like time travel and microwavable conch fritters, I have looked hard into the possibility of the STJ Hotline and it too remains a tantalizing impossibility...on my last trip, right before making the ferry whoa home, I hid an ACME Go Phone in the STJ Tourist Info Shack next to STJ Spice and turned the ringer up real loud so Pia would find it and I could be like:
"Wow, thank goodness, you found my perishable phone, what a coincidence...by the way, while I've got you on the line, how's the weather, what's the drink special at Woody's and how many Johnites are committing venial parking sins down the street at the Catholic church?"
Things were going good until I ask her what she was wearing....click.
What? Asking about the weather is okay, but fashion tips are off limits all of sudden? It was a legit question. In Cruz Bay, decorum states that ladies must where cover ups and never linen ones before Easter. I stand by my line of questioning.
Anyway, back to the drawing board.
Sincerely,
Wile E. Mongoose
PS. I also asked Ruth if we could put a dancing pole on the beach right outside her store...she frowned and said, "um, no, it's not that kind of Spice Cam, sir."
