It sort of looks like a Grunt, only the stripes are going the wrong way for a French Grunt. Maybe another type?

I am guessing almost an adult Schoolmaster - Lutjanus apodus - maybe about 10" long - the vertical bars often disappear in a fully mature adult.

I second Exit Zero - it's a Schoolmaster (a kind of snapper), not fully grown. Those bars fade as they grow.

Thx Maggie and Jumbiegirl. Are Pluma Porgy and Sheepshead Porgy the same thing? They look to be at least on the photos I pull up on the interweb.

Also, how about this guy? Is it a Graysby?

They are in the same family, but not the same fish. I can see when I google that the Pluma sometimes is called Pluma Porgy.

It's a bit hard to see the last one, but I guess Graysby or Rock Hind.
