Can anyone recommend a waterproof flashlight for night snorkeling. I am not a big fan of LED's (never seem to provide enough light). Thanks!!

cuey12: LED's are getting better at a pretty fast clip; I bought this dive light for Little Cayman last summer, and actually ended using it on day dives and snorkels to see what was going on under overhangs and in tight places. It also really brings out the reds in coral that you wouldn't otherwise see.

A smaller, lighter, and less expensive xenon light is here: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-55/0260 ... Light.html

All the best,

Kevin

Hi there! I don't have a recommendation for what to purchase, but wanted to mention that I had looked into buying diving lights, but ended up renting two flashlights for a few days from Low Key in Cruz Bay -- they were nice and powerful, and it was good to not have an extra thing to lug down.

Hi Cuey,

I guess that's another point in favor of renting -- if you've never tried it before, it might make sense to rent first to see if you like it!

We tried night snorkeling one time and didn't really click with it (although to be fair, it's mostly because we didn't see much...we might have gotten hooked if we'd had better luck).
