I love this villa but wonder if it would be a issue with the distances to North Shore beaches and Coral Bay. We spend very little time in Cruz Bay.

We've stayed at Sol Inclination and loved it. It has the most amazing views and is very well appointed. The ONLY thing we didn't like about it was the long drive to get anywhere. It did get old, especially if we wanted to go back to the villa after a day at the beach to get cleaned up, and then go back into Cruz or Coral Bay. We got to the point where we'd get cleaned up the best we could in the Jeep after the beach and go to dinner without going back to the villa first. I'm glad we stayed there though, the views can't be beat.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It adds 10 minutes to any drive.

We stayed next door to Sol Inclination last month at South Shore Villa (and yes, I really need to write a review already). Our drive to town was only about 10 minutes. I don't know if it is because my husband knows the roads well or what, but we drove to town every morning and walked along the beach, then headed back to the villa to start the day. The views are spectacular. All the roads from town to the villas are paved.
Also, there is a market on the way home from town which is very convenient. Both for not going all the way to town for groceries, as well as hitting it on the way home.
If you take gift hill road, you can get to Francis quickly. For other north shore beaches we drove through town and hit Deli Grotto to stock the cooler on the way.
We travelled back and forth quite a bit and I never thought that to myself that it was bad or extra long. In fact, I wondered why we never stayed in fish bay before! It is the perfect combination of being remote and away from it all, yet staying close to town. That view is one of the best on island. I can only think of a few villas/locations with better views.

I think it's physically impossible to get from Sol Inclination or South Shore Villa to Cruz Bay in only 10 minutes
If the road with all the switchbacks to get up to Skytop is now fully paved, that would shave off a minute or two.

Teresa - I can imagine that if the road wasn't paved when you stayed there it would have added significant travel time to your day.
While we never timed our trips, I'm absolutely certain it didn't ever take more than 15 minutes. Perhaps it was the time of year of our visit.

The time of year you visited?...you mean there was no snow like when we stayed there? Haha, I couldn't resist.

We only go to STJ in the off season so I have no idea if South Shore Road traffic picks up in the high season or not.
If the switchbacks are now paved, I can see getting to Cruz Bay in 15 minutes, if you didn't dilly-dally.
Get this: when we stayed there, we got stuck behind of all things, one of those giant water trucks...and we were headed up the mountain, so we were below the truck...very scary, and the poor driver had to do A LOT of 75 point turns. It was just nuts.

I'm sitting in sol inclination right now!! We just stepped inside after watching another incredible sunrise in paradise. Nancy, you will be blown away by the views and the beauty of this villa. The drive up here took a little getting used to, but only for two days...now it's like we've been driving up here all our lives

. As long as you have a 4wd jeep...no problem. I don't even know how to describe the view appropriately...I can't...it's just breathtaking. The accommodations are to die for too....beautiful, comfortable beds, great kitchen, towels, beach chairs, landscaping, banana quits, hermit crabs, lizards, books, wi-fi, tv, fireplace, AC everywhere...you can't ask for anything more! I do get what Teresa is saying about leaving the beaches, going back to the villa, and then going back into town. We've done two things about that...we go to the beaches early (8:00am) snorkel before most people get out there...drive back to villa before noon, get the whole family and go to a beach with lunch, leave around 4:00, go to beach bar, catch the happy hour, have something to eat and get back to villa for sunset...what a perfect way to spend the day! You will not be disappointed in sol inclination!!! I would say if you like to stay out late and partake in many a painkiller (actually I've discovered BBCs and I'm not drinking anything else now

) then maybe it's better for you to stay close to town, but if you are an early riser, like to get back to the villa by sunset kind of person then stay here...you'll be blown away. FYI sol inclination is for sale for any of you millionaires out there..price is 3,199,000

well worth it if you have that kind of money....we leave tomorrow and I don't want to go, so I may just hide in one of these closets

How is the pool at SOL? It just seems sort of an afterthought or out of the way. That is the only thing that keeps me from saying yes to renting it. I was a pool that is inviting to use every morning and evening. I am afraid that the position of the pool would keep us from using it. Has anyone that stayed there found the same?

The pool has an infinity edge that looks across the east side and Reef Bay. The transit of the sun keeps it warm. There's a hot tub just off the pool, tucked into the stone wall for added privacy.

Well a mom with 3 boys may not like the pool here at sol inclination. No diving, you can lay in a floaty, get wet and cool off, the temp is good because its in the sun all day, but if I had 3 boys that wanted to all be in the pool I think the pool here would be a little small. However, going back and forth between the pool and the hot tub with that view is so much fun for us adults!

I don't think the pool seems like an after thought. We've rented 10 villas, and Sol Inclination is among the top 3 as far as pool accessibility goes. At other villas we've had to go down stairs, or around the other side of the house, etc., but at Sol Inclination you walk out the front door and a few steps across the lawn and there's the pool.

Oh, I see. That is the a bedroom pod below the pool. Not the Villa. I thought that the pool was above the Villa and you had to walk up to the pool.

Yes, you are correct. The bedroom pod contains 2 of the 4 bedrooms.
