Good morning, forum! Just thought I'd check in! Weather has been beautiful with just a few showers on Thursday morning. That was fine as I got over my fear of wet roads right away! Still looking to develop a "rhythm" to our days, like Blaine and I have. We're having a great time!
We've had some very nice "grown up" discussions on our drives around the island. Done more walking/exploring and more cooking and paying attention to "local" produce. Shes fine with the inconveniences and loves everything except being in the water. Much less snorkeling and time in the water, as she's deathly afraid of fish (LOL!!! But I knew that going in) so a very different vacation, but she loves it here and gets it and is talking of how to get her boyfriend here soon.
Maybe tonight I'll figure out how to post pics - she's got the iPad download figured out, so it's just one more step

Have a great day!

Good morning!
Glad the weather is good for you! How is the water temperature,? I know it cools down a bit from the late summer/fall so hopefully it is still comfortable and not shocking! It is nice to have a different type of vibe but going to the same location. This trip coming coming up for me will be different as well, will travel solo, so I won't be playing tour guide to newbies and wondering if they "get it". I will be on my own schedule and may even go to church on Sunday, I hear the congregations there can be very uplifting! Have a wonderful time and I hope you can post pics

FWIW, and being a bit concerned on this front as well, I brought a digital food thermometer down to Trunk a few weeks back. It read 80.5 F. The lowest that I have measured is 79.5 F, in mid to late January. I tend to take my time getting in, to the amusement of my better half, but once you're in, it's fine. I don't stay in as long though; the 87 F waters of summer are more to my liking.
All the best,
Kevin

Hi Minde,
Glad to see your post! You will always cherish this vacation with your daughter. I took mine for a week to Alaska when she graduated high school. Later this summer she will be getting married.... but we still reminisce about our trip to Alaska. We had a great time together and the memories are worth everything!
One week from today I sink my toes into the place I love.

Our 16-year-old was also afraid of the fish she would go to the water but did not like being up close to the fish. The day we went to Watermelon cay she went nuts on the swim over when she saw a couple jellyfish (really small ones) and then had a school of small fry surround her. Her answer was to turnaround go back to the beach. However she did swim out to see the turtles.

Oh we were a hoot today at maho, but we came up with a "system." I snorkel beside her in the deeper water, "scaring away the fish" and she swims next to me. I'm sure we gave some people a good laugh as she swam back and forth 20 yards, in about 3 feet of water

Jillian was calling me "security"

Minde - Glad to hear that you two are having a great time!! Be thankful your daughter thinks of you as "security" no matter what the circumstances are!!! I truly hope that she comes to love snorkeling for the special experience that it is......nothing like a ring-side seat to a National Geographic experience!!!! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
