Is Memorial Day week more crowded?

Planning for next year, we've pretty much decided to come in May. If we were to come Memorial Day week, everyone would save a day of vacation, which I'm sure they'd appreciate. Is that a busier week on STJ, are restaurants and beaches more crowded? Or is it pretty much off season as usual? Thanks for your thoughts...

We were there during Memorial Day week last year and it was pretty quiet on the island. No problem with crowds on beaches or restaurants. The only place that was always crowded was Starfish Market and the lines there are nothing compared to what I experience at home. The only beach that was "crowded" by STJ standards was Leinster. When we swam back from snorkeling Waterlemon (around noon), there were more than 50 people on the beach. Of course, compared to MD and VA beaches, it was still essentially empty.
Next year, we will probably go back at end of May. This year we were there April 23 - May 4 and the water was too cool for me. But I am really a cold water wimp, so it was fine for others. I heard a few other people complain about how cold it was when they first got in. The water temp was nice and much calmer at end of May.
