Photo-op

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but right around this time of year, and for a week or two in the spring, as the sun sets from Trunk Bay it will pass behind the windmill ruin on Peace Hill, with the sun shining directly through the two east and west slits. It makes for a great photo, and putting a piece of window screen in front of your lens will add some nice effects. It will also help to set your camera on its High Dynamic Range setting, or else bracket two exposures and composite them. A nice perk from hanging around till the sun goes behind the mill is that you pretty much have one of the world's finest beaches to yourself. We have been pretty preoccupied with a bunch of home improvement projects this trip, and the two nights that we did dawdle at Trunk, clouds got in the way, but if I get a chance in the next few days, I'll post a photo.
On an curiously related photo-op theme, I've been beavering away with mortar mix and brass, creating an interesting bit of art and science for our lower lawn. It should be complete tomorrow, and I'll post some photos.
Inner Vision and more at Woody's Save Second Base block party tonight!
