Anyone else watching and waiting for a price drop in flights? Our vacation is in March, and last year we purchased on Christmas Day when they dropped a substantial amount. The flight I am watching is currently $585 from Boston. I am hoping for something closer to $450-500...

I'm waiting for tickets for April 19th. I usually buy Thanksgiving weekend AA non-stop and now checking Jet Blue. We have a non-stop Jet Blue on Nov 11 with great price. Be patient another month. I think you'll do better. It really is a crap shoot!!

I was doing the same -- however, i bit the bullet and purchased through Orbitz on Delta from CLE to STT through ATL, for $708, leaving 1/25/13. I got nervous because that's the cheapest I found that flight... Well, I just looked now, and that same flight is now $778! I actually made the right decision for a change!

I bought tickets from Hartford, CT at $365. I would not suggest buying all your tickets at the same time. You will find your best price buying 1 ticket at a time. You can do seat selections, and easily get seats together, 1 at a time. Join farecompare.com. I read many tips on their website, including which days to buy tickets, and how far in advance to buy tickets. You should be able to buy tickets form Boston for about $400. Best time in about 2 1/2 months before your trip, and the best day to buy a ticket in Wed. Also, be flexible on your travel days, which will help your fare. There will always be a villa to choose from. Wait on the airfare until about 10 weeks before you plan to leave. I saved about $300 for 2 seats.

I tried this once and it backfired on me. Everyone wanted to use their own credit card (point junkies) and I sat down with their cards and started buying. After ticket #2, the price jumped $75. I called customer service and the answer I got was that they adjust prices based on inventory.

I am familiar with fancompare, and check fare on most Wednesday a.m. as well as during the week sometimes. I see the flight I want still has about 100 available seats.. yippee!

PAGirl, you are too nice! Every group trip we do, I make everyone buy their own tickets and I do the rest. I could not take the responsibility if prices went up.

I haven't booked yet. I am using miles so I'm stuck with AA. Flight times are not the greatest and it has a layover in FL no matter which flight we take, but it's almost free. I did check around though and flights do seem higher than last year.
