Hey all..
Just wondering if you ever get upgraded on your flights from STT...either complimentary or for a small fee??
Our connection time is tight in Miami and want to upgrade, but not for a huge fee...Any chances of getting them to upgrade at check in at STT?

Never happened for me :(

Depending on who is working I have encountered some of the most disinterested counter and gate personnel ever at the STT airport but I will say I have encountered maybe 2 that love their job but still no upgrade :)

Good luck

In 2010 my wife & I paid $50 each at check-in to upgrade on Delta.

What airline are you flying? (I assume American as you are going through Miami) and how long is your layover?

Quite often, you can upgrade online when you check in. We could have on Usair in August for $250 each. We didn't bc that was way too much for a 4 hour flight. In January, we upgraded on American from PHL to San Antonio for $139 each. Well worth it for my tall husband and son! Me, too, of course! I think the fee upgrade has done away with free upgrades.

You should be fine with 40 mins but don't stop for the bathroom :)

I would go online now and see what seats are available and try to change even if you don't sit together then one could run to the next gate and make sure they know you are on your way.

Here's another thing...
Have you noticed the "preferred" seating?? It's $27 extra per seat to pick a "better" seat, ie window seat, etc...Used to just be for the exit rows, now it's half the seats..So if we changed our seats to move up 8 or 10 rows to be closer to the front it will be $54 extra dollars...Craziness....At least it's on the trip home, so it's not as big of a deal if we miss our connection and have to take a slightly later flight I guess.. :?

I have been on flights where they know people have tight connections and they announce that those people get to deplane first. You may want to mention something to the flight attendant and see if they will let you off first.
Those extra charges annoy me. Other than the exit rows, all the seats should be the same price. If you book early, then you should be able to choose whatever seats you want. We upgraded in August for seats with more legroom and it didn't seem any different than other rows. It also allowed us to sit with our kids so it was money well spent.
