Trip Report - Day 6 (October 7, 2012)

Morning all, it is a great day to be alive and on St John, only three more days before we head back to the cold, sunless world of Rochester, NY. Ugh, let's not go there, at least for today, tomorrow, and the next day.
Husband got up for the first time to enjoy the sunset with me. He had scoped out the road farther up from the villa and had found a spot very high up that we could enjoy a bit of a different view, and his plan was that we could walk back down towards the villa and enjoy the entire sunrise again, I love this man!

Adventure of the day is Little Lameshur so we packed a lunch and jumped in the jeep. It took us 45 minutes from the villa, but the views, were so worth it. The road in is dirt in some spots but totally drivable in a 4 wheel drive. We had the beach to ourselves except for two other couples, so we grabbed a picnic table under a tree and headed in to snorkel. Lots to see alone the left side, We swam in a school of fish for what seemed like forever, and an on the other side, we were treated to a reef with lots more to see. Yay for bright sunny days above the water to light the area under the water.

After refueling with lunch, we hiked to the right and met up with a couple who live on the island in the winter, and this year, came down for 5 weeks in the fall. They shared with us lots of information about living and building on the island as well as information about the ruins we were viewing.

Back to the villa to shower and regroup, we had wanted to stop for a smoothie on the
way back to the villa but it was closed. Once again, sweet Husband pulls one out of his bag of tricks and presents this to me. Super yummy.

Into town we went to take a sunset cruise on the Kekoa. It was a fundraiser, and thus full of many locals who were fun to talk with, the couple to our left moved there 6 months ago, the couple to our right 3 weeks ago, and the gentleman in front of us was the coach for the USVI College Basketball team. The food was provided by St John Catering, and was so tasty. The drinks provided by St John Brewers. We won a door prize (a pair of NIKE sneakers) that we donated back to the coach for usage in his summer league for young children on St Thomas.

Another glorious day on the rock!
