Trip Report - Day 1 (October 2, 2012)

Hello fellow St John lovers, yay, we are back on the Rock. Thought we would try, yes try, no promises, to send you a sniglet of love from the islands each day for the next 8 days. Hope this helps each of you who, like me, seem to need a little island fix to get through the days we are not here.
Left Rochester NY yesterday at 6:00 am, traveling through Baltimore, San Juan, and finally, St Thomas. Woot Woot, a very uneventful trip. We came with carryons only hoping to catch the 4 pm ferry to St John. But, alas, only one other couple thought like we did, so we were left waiting for the taxi to fill after the others got their luggage. Detours are in place on the way to Red Hook so the trip was through mainly residential areas. It was fun to watch the first timers gasp at the twist in turns in the island roads. Once at Red Hook, there was ample time for a painkiller, which we enjoyed thoroughly! The first, always goes down so good!

Once on island, we were greated by Caribbean Villas and taken to Courtesy Rentals to pick up our jeep. Then off we were again to Reef Bay to view for the first time in person, Over the Rainbow, villa. pictures do not do it justice. Holy, view batman. We picked a winner. But alas, we needed food, so back to town, to St John Market to pick up provisions. Excellent quality on the produce and vegetables, many $$$ later, we were headed back to the villa, for grilled cheese and a salad, and, of course, some liquid sunshine (St John Brewers). Sad to say, we are getting old, and were to pooped to go out for a cocktail and dinner.
I must go, Husband has the gear backed and is ready to hike down into Reef Bay, a 15 minute walk from our villa, for some snorkling, sunning, and lunch. See you tomorrow.
