The bad news....American took it upon themselves to not just change our flight time...but to transfer us to a completely different flight which has a 40 min connection time in Miami...
The good news...We will be on island in time to make Happy Hour at Woody's

I know!! That's why I didn't book that flight in the first place, and then they changed it. If I miss my connection they are going to be in big trouble Anyone have insight on connection at Miami on American..and if you think 40 min will be enough time..Want my luggage to make it there as well..

American says it is an acceptable connection time...and that luggage will make it...Hate to start out the vacay worrying about making the connection..Thanks AA...

I have connected through Miami on American several times over the years and it was no worse than other connections. One was a STT flight, all the others were from other islands.

I will share that our luggage was delayed once due to a tight connection (not American) and I learned my lesson. Now, everyone in my family is required to carry one change of clothing and one bathing suit in their carry-on. It was a nightmare trying to find shoes and a bathing suit for my husband. We wasted the entire first day shopping.

If I were you I would just carry on my luggage so you don't have to worry about it. After so many trips to STT I have learned that we always bring too many clothes. We keep packing less each year for carry on and still find that we pack too much. If you have a washer and dryer in your unit or even access to one just take enough clothes for half the week, wash them on Wednesday and start all over again!

We connected on the way home the last trip we took. I do recall that we walked for a good 15 min to get to our gate.
Hope everything works out ok. Stinking American,.this is why I am learning towards Jet Blue for our trip in March!!

What's wierd to me is that the flight we originally booked..is still available...
We will def pack a change of clothes, etc in our carry on...
When it comes to being on island tiime, the hubs and I can run if we have to, to get to our connecting flight
